Robelis Despaigne, who fought on Most Valuable Promotions’ MMA card on Netflix, is returning to the UFC.
First Round Management released the news that their client has signed with the UFC, marking a return to the organization after being cut in 2024.
The Cuban fighter is 37 years old and was a bronze medalist in Taekwondo at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England.
He immediately garnered attention when beginning his MMA career. Three of his first four wins occurred in less than twelve seconds and led to his signing by the UFC and beating Josh Parisian in 18 seconds at UFC 299. Then, he ran into real competition at heavyweight and lost a pair of decisions to Waldo Cortes-Acosta and Austen Lane and was let go. He competed seven times for Karate Combat and had an undefeated record with the promotion and became its heavyweight champion last December.
Due to his appeal, he was brought in by Most Valuable Promotions for its MMA event on Netflix and knocked out former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos in the first round.
