AEW Collision 7/25 Results: Nick Wayne and El Clon qualify for ladder match, Ospreay and Moxley attack Young Bucks

Nick Wayne and El Clon claimed the final two places in the six-way ladder match during Saturday’s AEW Collision from The Pinnacle in Nashville.

The Redemption go-home show also saw the Young Bucks defeat Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia before Will Ospreay and Jon Moxley attacked their pay-per-view opponents.

In the main event, AEW Women’s World Champion Thekla and TBS Champion Hikaru Shida defeated their respective Redemption challengers, Willow Nightingale and Maya World.

  • The Redemption ladder match field is Jack Perry, The Beast Mortos, Komander, Mike Bailey, Nick Wayne and El Clon. The winner receives an AEW International Championship match.
  • Athena, Billie Starkz and Diamante called out Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor, although no date was announced for a match.

Tommaso Ciampa vs. Zachary Wentz

Tommaso Ciampa attacked Zachary Wentz before the bell and exchanged words with Paul Wight at the commentary desk.

Wentz recovered and used his aerial offense to take control once the match officially began. Ciampa intercepted one dive with his knees and later caught Wentz coming from the ropes with a jumping knee.

Ciampa delivered a DDT through the ropes onto the apron before hitting running knees on the ramp and inside the ring for the pin.

Ciampa promises violence at Redemption

Ciampa took a marker after the match and drew lines across his face in imitation of Chris Jericho’s Painmaker appearance.

He declared himself better than Jericho and said the “Psycho Killer” was superior to the Painmaker.

Mike Bailey looks toward hometown ladder match

Mike Bailey spoke about competing in the Redemption ladder match in his hometown of Montreal.

Bailey said winning would bring him an AEW International Championship opportunity against either Bandido or Kyle Fletcher. He added that defeating Fletcher would allow him to take revenge on the Don Callis Family.

The Young Bucks vs. Wheeler Yuta & Daniel Garcia

Jon Moxley joined commentary as Matt and Nick Jackson faced Wheeler Yuta and Daniel Garcia.

The Bucks controlled much of the opening portion with their quick tags and double-team offense. Garcia and Yuta slowed the pace by isolating Matt before Nick entered and attacked both opponents.

Claudio Castagnoli and PAC arrived during the closing stages. PAC distracted referee Rick Knox while Castagnoli attacked Matt, allowing Garcia to apply the Dragontamer.

AEW World Tag Team Champions Adam Copeland and Christian Cage came out to neutralize the interference. Christian attacked Castagnoli, while Copeland speared PAC on the ramp.

The Bucks then hit Garcia with the Meltzer Driver to secure the victory.

Ospreay and Moxley attack the Young Bucks

Matt and Nick confronted Moxley at the commentary desk after the match.

Ospreay appeared from behind and struck Nick with the Hidden Blade. Moxley followed by driving Matt into the floor with the Death Rider.

Garcia and Yuta congratulated Ospreay, who briefly looked back at the Bucks before following Moxley through the crowd. Ospreay and Moxley face the Bucks at Redemption.

Brody King, Bandido and Kyle Fletcher scuffle at Comic-Con

AEW aired footage from its panel at San Diego Comic-Con.

Brody King confronted AEW International Champion Kyle Fletcher from the audience. Fletcher left the stage to approach King before Bandido became involved, and the three were separated. Fletcher will defend the International Championship against Bandido at Redemption.

Persephone vs. Angelica Risk

CMLL World Women’s Champion Persephone dominated Angelica Risk in a short non-title match. Persephone repeatedly slapped and struck Risk before winning with a crucifix bomb.

Athena’s and co call out the Brawling Birds

Lexy Nair interviewed ROH Women’s World Champion Athena, Billie Starkz and Diamante.

Athena addressed her recent confrontation with Jamie Hayter and Alex Windsor. Diamante said she had “one bullet for two birds,” prompting Starkz to correct her use of the expression. Athena became frustrated with Starkz and said her group would be waiting for the Brawling Birds.

The Lethal Twist vs. SkyFlight

Matt Sydal made his first AEW appearance in more than two years, teaming with Scorpio Sky and Dante Martin against Jay Lethal, Blake Christian and Lee Johnson.

Ricochet and Jeff Jarrett joined commentary, with Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona positioned alongside Ricochet.

SkyFlight used simultaneous dives during the opening stages. The Lethal Twist later isolated Sky until Martin entered and increased the pace.

Martin dropped Johnson with a DDT and headed to the top rope. Ricochet climbed onto the apron to distract the referee, allowing Johnson to knock Martin off balance.

Christian followed with a flying stomp as Johnson held Martin in a fireman’s carry. Johnson completed the combination with a Death Valley Driver for the pin.

Nick Wayne vs. AR Fox

Nick Wayne defeated AR Fox to qualify for Sunday’s six-way ladder match.

Wayne attacked Fox at the opening bell and later seated him on a chair at ringside. Fox stopped a running attack with a knee and mounted a comeback that included a neckbreaker on the floor, a sit-out powerbomb and a cutter.

Fox followed the cutter with a top-rope splash, but Wayne survived. Wayne fought off Fox on the turnbuckles, landed a head kick and hit the Prodigy Plex for the victory.

Darby Allin questions Kevin Knight

Footage aired of Darby Allin responding to his match against Kevin Knight on Dynamite.

Allin said Knight had asked for a wrestling match but appeared to want something more. He questioned how far Knight was willing to go and threw his skateboard into a garage door. Knight challenges Kenny Omega for the AEW World Championship at Redemption.

The Conglomeration vs. Dalton Castle & The Outrunners

AEW World Trios Champions Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly defended against ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions Dalton Castle, Truth Magnum and Turbo Floyd.

Cassidy and Magnum began with a posedown that escalated when their partners lifted both men onto their shoulders. The teams shook hands before breaking into a six-man fight.

Castle and the Outrunners came close to winning after a series of double-team attacks on Cassidy. Floyd later attempted a sunset flip, but Cassidy sat down, trapped his legs and scored the pin.

Jarrett breaks guitar over Ricochet

The Lethal Twist and The Demand attacked both teams after the match.

Jarrett left commentary to intervene, but Ricochet knocked him from the apron. The Conglomeration and the ROH champions then cleared the other attackers from the ring.

Cassidy struck Ricochet with the Orange Punch before Jarrett broke a guitar over his head.

Tony Schiavone announced that the Conglomeration would defend against Lethal, Christian and Johnson during the Redemption Buy-In.

Jack Perry and Nick Wayne trade insults

Jack Perry said his primary objective remained winning the AEW World Championship, but he would take other opportunities as they became available.

Wayne interrupted and accused Perry of having opportunities handed to him. He said he had earned his place in the ladder match and intended to hurt Perry while showing him what a young pillar should look like.

Perry sarcastically congratulated Wayne for succeeding on his own. He added that Wayne would need to do more of that now that Christian Cage was no longer acting as his “sugar daddy.”

El Clon vs. Lio Rush

El Clon defeated ROH World Television Champion Lio Rush to take the last available place in the Redemption ladder match.

Rush was bleeding near his right eye during the match and landed a powerbomb, dive and bottom-rope springboard stunner.

Clon countered another pinning attempt and held the bottom rope for leverage while the referee counted three.

Bailey & Komander save Rush

Clon continued attacking Rush after the bell.

Bailey ran out and knocked Clon from the ring with a kick. Komander then used a springboard moonsault to take Clon down on the floor.

Bailey and Komander showed respect to one another before Sunday’s ladder match.

The completed field consists of Perry, The Beast Mortos, Komander, Bailey, Wayne and Clon.

Redemption video packages

AEW aired a video package promoting Omega’s AEW World Championship defense against Knight.

Schiavone then reviewed the Redemption lineup and noted that Renee Paquette and Mick Foley would host the Buy-In.

A separate package promoted the double chain match between the Bang Bang Gang’s Jay White and Juice Robinson and The Dogs’ David Finlay and Clark Connors.

Thekla & Hikaru Shida vs. Willow Nightingale & Maya World

Thekla and Shida gained the advantage over their Redemption challengers in the main event.

Shida immediately attacked World before the action split into two fights around ringside. The champions worked together to deliver simultaneous suplexes on the floor.

World spent much of the match isolated before reaching Nightingale. Willow entered with several clotheslines and a spinebuster on Shida, but Thekla stopped the pin.

The challengers later sent both champions outside. Willow attempted a cannonball from the apron but missed when Thekla and Shida moved. World followed with a dive that connected with both opponents.

World returned Thekla to the ring as the referee removed a championship belt from her possession. Shida used the distraction to strike World with her kendo stick.

Thekla followed with the spear and pinned World.

Thekla will defend the AEW Women’s World Championship against Nightingale at Redemption, while Shida puts the TBS Championship on the line against World.
