Jim Ross has shared a photograph showing the aftermath of the brain surgery he underwent earlier this week.

The 74-year-old broadcaster posted the image on X on Saturday with the caption: “The proof is in the pudding!” The photograph shows a shaved area on the side of Ross’ head, with a curved surgical incision closed by stitches.

Ross underwent the procedure on August 12. His Grilling JR co-host Conrad Thompson said afterward that he had heard from Ross’ daughter that the surgery had been successful and that Ross was expected to return home by Friday.

The photograph appears to have been taken inside a hospital room.

Ross revealed in July that brain surgery was required after a lengthy hospital stay. He had passed out at home and was subsequently hospitalized for nearly 40 days. The procedure was intended to manage excess fluid on his brain, which Ross said had contributed to balance and memory problems.

Ahead of the operation, Ross explained that surgeons would drill a hole in his skull and insert a small tube running to his stomach to help drain the excess fluid.

The surgery is the latest in a series of health issues. He was diagnosed with skin cancer in 2021 and underwent 22 radiation treatments before announcing that he was cancer-free that December.

He then had cancer surgery on his right hip in February 2024.

Ross announced in May 2025 he had been diagnosed with colon cancer and underwent surgery that month. By June 2025, he said his surgeon was pleased with his progress and believed the tumor had been totally removed.

Ross’ most recent AEW commentary appearance was at Double or Nothing in May. He has noted on Grilling JR that his AEW contract is set to expire this month.
