WWE Raw 8/24 Results: Royce Keys returns with OTM, Rey Fenix and Penta advance to tournament finals

This week’s Raw opened with multiple stars walking into the arena, followed by a Bloodline recap.

LA Knight, Solo Sikoa and The Usos’ warning shot battle

LA Knight came out to a fired-up Ottawa crowd. Knight said he’s happy to be in Canada’s capital, and he’s had his sight “capital C coward Roman Reigns.” He understood the mixed reaction because he’s also confused. He noted that Reigns won alone at WrestleMania and SummerSlam, but he has sent family members at him to keep him away. He said Reigns told him that he has to earn a chance at the World Heavyweight Championship by winning a tournament. The crowd broke into “you deserve it” chants. He added that Reigns created a tournament where Knight doesn’t qualify and still sent the family after him. He said that in order to find his way to the World Heavyweight Championship, he has to get his hands dirty in family business. Solo Sikoa could be heard saying, “Yeah,” in the crowd. 

After “Solo” chants, Sikoa threw Knight’s “let me talk to ya” at him. After that, he thanked Knight for what he did last week. He asked who would have thought he and Knight would be teaming up to fight the Bloodline. He noted that Knight could have said no, but you said “yeah.” Knight cut off Solo before he could steal another one of his catchphrases and gave him a warning shot. The Usos came out, and Jimmy said there was a “funny guy” in the ring. He asked Solo if he thought it was funny to go against his brothers or when he decided to spike the Tribal Chief. The Usos told him he’s got consequences. Jey fired a warning shot, which Solo Matrix dodged. The Usos challenged LA and Solo to a match, firing their warning shot before accepting.

After Michael Cole and Corey Graves welcomed us to the show, we got a recap of the Lucha World Heavyweight Title tournament so far.

Roxanne Perez vs. Stephanie Vaquer

Roxanne took a cheap shot at Vaquer and tried to hide using the ropes, but Vaquer went after Perez’s elbow, forcing her outside. Perez baited Vaquer in the ring and talked trash, but Vaquer landed a hard strike and continued to target Perez’s left arm. A bit of an awkward sequence of transitions, but Perez and Vaquer quickly salvaged it, exchanging holds. Vaquer landed a big boot in the corner and went to the top rope, and Raquel Rodriguez distracted the ref. Perez pushed Vaquer outside and drove her into the barricade twice as the match went into an ad break.

After the break, Perez was on Vaquer’s back, and Vaquer broke free momentarily, but Perez followed with a cartwheel knee for a nearfall. Perez locked in an abdominal stretch, and Liv Morgan talked trash outside. Vaquer countered into a stretch of her own, but Perez sent Stephanie into the corner. Vaquer drove Perez’s head into the second turnbuckle and hit a flurry of strikes. Perez hit a spinning heel kick, but Vaquer caught her with a Package Quebradora. She then went for the Devil’s Kiss. Perez got a boot up in the corner, but Vaquer caught Perez with a Dragon Screw and hit a Meteora in the corner for a two-count. Perez tried to escape Vaquer and grabbed the ring apron. Perez raked the eyes as the ref fixed it and landed a Shining Wizard for a nearfall. Vaquer broke free from a crossface and hit SVP. She went up to the top rope, and Rodriguez distracted the ref, allowing Morgan to drop Vaquer. Becky Lynch then came after Morgan. Vaquer took out Rodriguez to help out Lynch. Perez caught Vaquer with a Busaiku Knee when she came back into the ring, but she rolled out of a springboard moonsault and hit Angel Wings for the win.

After the match, Becky took out Liv and stood in the ring with Stephanie. Lynch pointed out that it’s twice now that she’s had to help her.

Rey Mysterio was pumping up Rey Fenix backstage. Dominik Mysterio confronted his father, wondering why he wasn’t in the tournament. Rey said it’s because he’s not a real luchador, and JD McDonagh threatened to beat up Rey. Je’Von Evans then came to the rescue, laying Dominik and JD out.

World Heavyweight Title No. 1 Contendership Tournament Semifinal: Dragon Lee vs. Rey Fenix

A quick start where Fenix and Lee went counter for counter. Lee took the advantage after a strike exchange and landed a dropkick going over the top, followed by a running dropkick. Fenix caught Lee with a spinning heel kick and landed the Goodbye Amigo Kick, followed by a crossbody. Fenix hit another running kick and landed an outside moonsault. Lee hit a thrust kick and landed a tope con hiro into an ad break. Lee and Fenix were trading strikes after the ad break. Lee escaped a fireman’s carry and caught Fenix with a series of kicks. Lee floated over and hit a Liger Bomb for a two-count. Fenix spun through the ropes and landed a moonsault for a nearfall. He hit a sit-out Tiger Bomb for another nearfall. Lee caught Fenix in the corner, smashing his head in the corner, but as he was going up top, Fenix landed an uppercut. Lee countered a Frankensteiner and had Fenix caught in the corner into the double stomp for a two-count.

Fenix caught Lee in a small package, and Lee responded with an overhand chop and a kick. The action went outside, as Fenix smashed Lee’s head onto the announce desk. Lee caught the Goodbye Amigo Kick, sending Fenix on top of the announce desk. He hit a running cannonball through the second rope with Fenix on the announce desk. Back in the ring, Lee planted Fenix with a tornado DDT for a nearfall. Fenix countered Operation Dragon into a brainbuster. He landed a Meteora and went for a Mexican Muscle Buster, but Lee fought out of it and landed a Styles Clash for a nearfall. Lee took off his elbow pad, but Fenix rolled through for a cutter for another nearfall. Lee had a boot up in the corner, but Fenix hit a step-up enzuigiri and a kick, followed by a Mexican Muscle Buster for the win.

A video package played, teasing who likely will be Lola Vice given the Miami Vice colors. The video showed a woman walking into a club that smashed cut into her in the gym. The video ended with the date Sept. 14.

Oba and Bron make it official

Adam Pearce and Paul Heyman were in the ring for the Oba Femi-Bron Breakker contract signing. After Oba’s entrance, Heyman told Femi that there was “no vision for the future without the words ‘fear the spear,'” and he called Bron the “hardest-hitting athlete in all of WWE.” Before signing, Bron asked Oba who the hell he thinks he is and what he’s done to think he’s the future of WWE. He acknowledged that Oba’s won King of the Ring and beat Brock Lesnar, but he’s never won a championship. Bron said he had WWE in the palm of his hands eight months ago and had the people chanting his name before Oba’s. He noted that he got hurt, so he took himself out since no one in the back was man enough to take him out. He then claimed that Oba snuck his way in, and he’s in the position that he’s in because he got hurt. Bron said he’s here to take back what belongs to him.

Oba called Bron an “angry orange man” and asked why he’s so angry. Oba said he doesn’t underestimate Bron. Oba thinks that if Bron debuted in 2002 and went up against John Cena, he’d be at the top, and if he debuted in 2015 and went up against whoever the big dog was back then, he’d be the face and the future. However, it’s 2026, and Bron has the unfortunate privilege of running against him. Oba said that because he exists, his chances of becoming the face of WWE drastically go down, and he’s barking up the wrong tree. Oba told Bron that he’s outclassed at every level, and at Sunday Night’s Main Event, he’ll show Bron that he’s the ruler, the destroyer, the bringer of war, and the future.

Bron admitted it was funny. He loves that everyone chants his name when his music plays. He loves that everyone is counting him out and thinking Oba will roll over him like any other Oba match. He told Oba that he will force him to fight him in the deep waters. He’s gonna take him out there, and he’s gonna get tired. His lungs and legs will give out, and Oba will be a “sorry wrestler” in the ring who thought he could compete against a “real dog” like Bron. He said that Oba casts a big shadow with his entrance, but in the ring, he’s gonna own him, and he will spend the rest of his career living in his. Bron told Oba that he’s the guy who Oba Femi could not beat.

Bron signed the contract, handed the contract to Heyman, and asked if Oba’s daddy should sign the contract for him. Heyman told Bron that it wasn’t funny and wondered what he was doing, as Bron told Heyman to sign it for him. Bron got up in Heyman’s face, telling him to sign the contract for Oba, as he talked about how Heyman brushed him aside for Oba and Brock. He took a cheap shot at Oba, but Femi fought back. Austin Theory came out for the save, and Breakker dropped Femi with a lariat, as Theory and Breakker tried to go for a spear. Femi countered it and tossed Theory through a table. Bron stood on the apron and looked at Theory before retreating. Oba picked up the contract and told Bron that he’ll have Bron running away like he was not at SNME. He signed the contract and tossed it at Bron.

The Usos were getting ready for their match backstage, and Jacob Fatu came up to them. His audio was muted, so it was hard to tell what he told them, but after they tried to antagonize him, Fatu raised his voice. He noted that Roman held him back next week, and he doesn’t take orders from The Usos. Jey held up his Ula Fala and ordered Fatu to stand down. Jimmy held up his Ula Fala before walking off, and Fatu crashed out on some crates in frustration.

Big Cass vs. Je’Von Evans

Both men went right at each other before and right as the bell rang. Evans took it to Cass and sent him outside. Evans hit a boot and tried to plancha outside, but Cass caught him. Evans stunned him, but Cass entered the ring and sent Evans outside. Cass took it to Evans outside. Evans fought back in the ring, but Cass caught him with a sidewalk slam heading into an ad break. Evans was mounting a comeback after the ad break, but Cass ate a few lariats. Evans slipped out of a fireman’s carry and forced Cass outside. He landed a tope suicida and continued to take the fight to Cass, dumping him in the timekeeper’s area. Evans ran around the ring and dove at Cass, who was bleeding from the mouth. Evans fired away at Cass. Back in the ring, Evans hit Red Dot and landed a springboard lariat. Cass dumped Evans outside as he was going for an OG Cutter. Cass dropped Evans with a big boot for the win.

After the match, Dom and JD attacked Evans. JD dropped him with a headbutt, and Dom hit a frog splash.

Jackie Redmond was backstage with Sol Ruca, who is getting a rematch against Raquel for the Intercontinental Title. Iyo came up to Sol and wished her luck next week. Lyra Valkyria snuck in and wanted to wish Sol luck, but Iyo beat her to it. Lyra noted that the matchup against Raquel is tough, so Sol should give the title shot to her. Sol refused, noting that Lyra already had a title match, so she needs to earn one, as she did. Lyra pointed out that Bayley used to talk to her like that and stared down Iyo before walking off. Iyo put on a scared face.

World Heavyweight Title No. 1 Contendership Tournament Semifinal: La Parka vs. Penta

Some early pinfall attempts, as La Parka danced. Penta later threw it back at him. He hit a step-up enzuigiri and a tope con hiro, but La Parka caught Penta from behind as he was celebrating and landed an Orihara moonsault. Penta caught La Parka with a superkick back in the ring. Both men traded strikes, and Penta baited La Parka in the corner to land a backstabber for a two-count heading into the ad break. La Parka was taking it to Penta in the corner after the break, but Penta dropped him with an open-handed chop. La Parka dodged a splash and a kick, hitting one of his own, and landed a second-rope crossbody. He got a two-count after an armdrag and a powerslam. La Parka flipped out of the corner, but Penta hit a John Woo dropkick into a stomp into the chest for a nearfall. Both men countered the other’s finishers, and La Parka planted Penta with a tornado DDT for a two-count. Penta countered La Parka in the corner with a Cheeky Nandos Kick and hit a Penta Driver for a two-count. La Parka met Penta up top and hit a Spanish Fly for a nearfall. Penta countered the Bone Breaker into the Sacrifice. Penta springboarded off the ropes to hit a Mexican Destroyer for the win.

Penta will face off in the tournament finals next week, and Fenix confronted his brother, shaking his hand in anticipation for the match.

Knight was getting ready for the main event, and Solo came up to him and thanked Knight again for what he did last week. He told Knight that he’s got his back, and he owes him. Knight told Solo that he doesn’t owe him anything except not to make him regret this partnership.

Gable faces Ego

Pearce was backstage with Chad Gable, complimenting his match against Rey last week. Gable said that’s the kind of legacy he wants to leave as champion. Pearce agreed and wanted to help with that. Ethan Page sarcastically congratulated Gable. He pointed out that he also beat Rey, and he has his eyes on the Intercontinental Title. He claimed Gable was intimidated, as he didn’t let Gable get a word in. He noted that to fulfill his dream, he’s going to offer “washed-up” guys championship shots, but he won’t get in the ring with Page. Gable cut off Page and noted that he had the same opportunity to win the title, but he also was in the gauntlet match and tapped out. Gable admitted that Page was on top of his list of future challengers until he opened his mouth. He told Page he should be proud for taking him out of contention.

After a recap of Vaquer vs. Perez and the post-match with Becky, Jackie was with Vaquer backstage. Jackie told her that in two weeks, she’ll have a title match against Liv. Stephanie said, finally, and pointed out that Liv needed her two “pets” to take her out, but that doesn’t work on her. She said something in Spanish, as she thanked Becky for her help but told her she didn’t need it. She then vowed to regain her title and destroy Judgement Day.

LA Knight & Solo Sikoa vs. The Usos

Jimmy tried to get a shot in first, but Knight was one step ahead. Solo and Knight showed off a little bit of teamwork, working over Jimmy in the corner. Jey tagged in, but Solo continued to dominate. Jimmy caught Solo with a step-up enzuigiri from behind, and The Usos hit stereo superkicks on Solo outside. The Usos took control during the picture-in-picture ad break. After the break, Solo tried fighting out of the corner, but Jey hit an enzuigiri and dropped Solo on the ropes, allowing Jimmy to hit a drive-by with the ref’s back turned. Jimmy was talking trash to Knight, allowing Solo to dump him outside. Jey cut off a tag to Knight and talked trash to Solo.

Solo turned Jey inside out with a lariat. Knight and Jimmy tagged in, and Knight went in with the jabs, a lariat, and a neckbreaker. Knight hung on the ropes and dropped Jey. Jimmy rolled up Knight for a two-count and countered the BFT. Knight countered a BFT with a back suplex. Knight landed an elevated elbow drop for a nearfall. Jey went for a suicide dive, but Solo blocked it. Jey stood tall over Solo, and Royce Keys came out of nowhere, driving both men through the barricade. OTM then attacked Jimmy and Knight in the ring, and Keys took out Solo and Knight with the steel steps. Keys made Jey watch OTM drive Jimmy through the announce desk. Royce and OTM stood tall with fans booing.
