Mustafa Ali is on the injured list.
TNA International Champion Ali revealed on Thursday night that he is currently out of action due to a punctured lung and fractured ribs. He said that the injuries occurred during his title match against Jason Hotch at last weekend’s TNA Lockdown pay-per-view.
Ali didn’t appear at Thursday night’s live TNA taping due to the injury. Instead, he cut a promo from a hospital bed following a match featuring rival Hotch.
Shortly after revealing the injury, Ali announced that he won’t be able to appear on a pair of upcoming independent dates.
“Unfortunately, I will not be able to compete for ACW in Melbourne, Australia and for Community Pro Wrestling in Glasgow, Scotland in September,” Ali said. “My sincere apologies. Hope to make it up to everyone soon.”
It’s unclear when Ali will be back in the ring.
It doesn’t seem as though Ali’s reign as International champ will be impacted by this setback, as he remains part of a storyline involving Hotch and Trey Miguel, both of whom are expected to receive a title shot sometime down the line.
