OZAWA defeated Kaito Kiyomiya on Sunday to win Pro Wrestling NOAH’s N-1 Victory tournament for the first time.

The B Block winner pinned Kiyomiya in 23:22 with Real Rebel, his Phoenix Splash variation, in the main event at Yoyogi National Gymnasium Second Gymnasium in Tokyo.

OZAWA received assistance from members of TEAM 2000X and twice attacked Kiyomiya with low blows during the match. Kiyomiya rallied with a series of Shining Wizards and the Skywalk Elbow but could not put him away.

Late in the match, OZAWA mimicked some of Kiyomiya’s offense before hitting a modified Shiranui and following with the Real Rebel for the three-count.

The victory gives OZAWA a GHC Heavyweight Championship match against Tetsuya Naito at Ryogoku Sumo Hall on October 25.

Naito won the title from Shane Haste in August and was at ringside for Sunday’s final. He entered the ring afterward and exchanged words with OZAWA, who mocked Naito’s continued references to his New Japan Pro Wrestling past and vowed to take the championship from him.

OZAWA finished the B Block with 10 points after a 5-2 record, while Kiyomiya topped the A Block at 11 points with five wins, one loss and one draw.

The co-main event produced a title change, with YO-HEY & Jun Masaoka defeating Dragon Bane & Alejandro for the GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship. Masaoka pinned Alejandro with Ambitions, his modified headlock driver, ending the champions’ reign after five successful defenses.

Elsewhere, the masked M.P.I. pinned GHC National Champion Naomichi Marufuji in a tag match. Marufuji indicated afterward that he was willing to defend his championship against the mystery wrestler.

Shane Haste also pinned GHC Tag Team Champion Yuki Iino and then named longtime TMDK partner Mikey Nicholls as the man he wants alongside him for a future challenge to Iino & Manabu Soya.

  • During the show, 49-year-old Shuhei Taniguchi announced that he has decided to retire after approximately 21 years with NOAH. Taniguchi has been out of action for several months because of ankle problems, with details of his retirement match expected to be discussed at a press conference on Monday.

NOAH announced an attendance of 2,077.
