Tanea Brooks, a.k.a. Rebel, was named the first-ever I AM ALS Honorary Board Member.
Brooks shared a statement about her new leadership role.
Advocacy for ALS is a major priority in my battle, and I plan to continue to fight the good fight with I AM ALS to find a cure and help others get access to treatment
Brooks was diagnosed with ALS in May 2026 and has used social media to share her story of fighting the disease and spread awareness about it. She also has been a public advocate for others with ALS, fighting for Congress to extend the Accelerating Access to Critical Therapies for ALS Act, commonly known as “ACT for ALS”. The bill was passed, extending federal programs supporting ALS research and expanding treatment access for five more years.
I AM ALS added a statement to Brooks’ inclusion on its board.
Since she came on as an I AM ALS Ambassador in June, Rebel has used her platforms to increase ALS visibility, spreading a national message of hope and urgency, and drove action leading to our big recent wins, including reauthorizing ACT for ALS.
The AEW Dynamite: Rebel Heart special was held to honor Brooks’ fight and continue to spread awareness about ALS. Fans can continue to support Brooks here.
