Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo was reportedly taken to hospital after suffering an injury during the main event of Friday’s WWE NXT live event in Sudbury, Ontario.
The match pitted BirthRight members Lorenzo, Lexis King, Charlie Dempsey & Uriah Connors against Tony D’Angelo, Tavion Heights, Shiloh Hill & Shawn Spears at Sudbury Community Arena.
A fan who attended the event reported on Reddit that Lorenzo was injured while taking a back body drop from the ring to the floor. Another attendee wrote that Lorenzo may have struck his head on the ring post before landing heavily on his back.
The referee signaled for medical assistance and the match was stopped. Lorenzo was fitted with a neck brace before being placed on a stretcher and taken from ringside.
Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer subsequently reported that Lorenzo was in hospital following the incident. No details regarding the nature or severity of the injury have been reported.
After Lorenzo had been removed, the performers remained at ringside and an angle concluded with Connors being put through a table.
Spears then addressed the audience, acknowledging what had occurred and thanking those in attendance. He said WWE’s wrestlers and fans were “one big family” and apologized that the show had ended under those circumstances.
As of publication, neither WWE nor Lorenzo had provided an update on his condition.
Lorenzo is currently part of BirthRight alongside Dempsey, King, Connors and Arianna Grace. WWE’s official profile lists him as a former NXT Tag Team Champion and NXT Heritage Cup Champion.
He and Connors also recently represented BirthRight in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, losing in the opening round to Mini Vikingo & Chazz “Starboy” Hall.
