AJ Styles hopes that he can get at least one last match in TNA Wrestling someday.
Earlier this month, WWE’s Styles made an appearance at TNA’s Slammiversary pay-per-view event, coming back to the promotion where he spent a decade of his career, wrestling from the early 2000s to 2013.
Styles appeared at the show in Elmont, New York to give props to Leon Slater, who became the youngest X-Division Champion in TNA history after overcoming Moose.
During an interview for the TNA documentary “Slammiversary: Fade To Black,” Styles reflected on his appearance at the event.
“I can tell you this, I was very excited. Even I had the butterflies tonight.” @AJStylesOrg reflects on his return to TNA on the incredible Slammiversary: Fade to Black, available now for TNA+ annual VIP subscribers.

“Tonight was a perfect night for me,” Styles said in a clip TNA posted to social media. “It was an opportunity for me to come and see the [TNA] fans face to face, something I haven’t done in a really long time. WWE said, ‘Yeah, sure, go do that.’ You don’t see that every day. So the opportunity just to come and visit and share some time with them was pretty amazing, man.”
Styles mentioned his interest in wrestling a match again for TNA someday, but emphasized how nothing is guaranteed.
“I hope there’s something special as far as a match goes, but I can’t promise that,” he said. “I can’t promise you tomorrow what’s going to happen to me. I can tell you this: I was very excited. Even I had the butterflies tonight.”
Styles will attempt to regain WWE gold this weekend when he faces Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship on the first night of Summerslam.
