In his first appearance since winning the latest NJPW G1 Climax, Konosuke Takeshita will be in action on Saturday’s episode of AEW Collision, which was taped on Wednesday evening in Glasgow, Scotland.
Takeshita will face off against NJPW talent Tomohiro Ishii in a rematch from January’s Wrestle Dynasty, a match which Takeshita won in 13 minutes.
The Don Callis Family’s Takeshita is just days removed from his win in the G1 Climax final, where he went 26 minutes to take down EVIL. G1 duties kept him absent from AEW programming since mid-July, when the tour in Japan first started.
Three other matches have been confirmed for Saturday’s show, the last episode of AEW TV before the promotion presents Forbidden Door on Sunday night.
The card is also expected to see NJPW’s Hiromu Takahashi team with Dante Martin, Darius Martin, and Scorpio Sky to face Don Callis’ squad of Hechicero, Josh Alexander, Lance Archer, and Rocky Romero.
Ex-EVPs Matt and Nick Jackson will try to score a win over Paragon’s Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong, with whom they briefly exchanged fists during a brawl on the latest episode of Dynamite.
And Max Caster, the “Best Wrestler Alive,” will try to earn his first AEW victory of the year when he presents an open challenge.
Here’s a quick rundown of everything that has been confirmed for the show thus far:
- Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson vs. Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong
- Max Caster Open Challenge
- Hiromu Takahashi, Dante Martin, Darius Martin & Scorpio Sky vs. Hechicero, Josh Alexander, Lance Archer & Rocky Romero
- Konosuke Takeshita vs. Tomohiro Ishii
