The Knockouts World Championship is back in the hands of a TNA wrestler.
Ash By Elegance captured the TNA Knockouts title on Sunday night, winning a triple threat against Masha Slamovich and defending champ Jacy Jayne in 12 minutes. The bout took place at NXT Heatwave in the Lowell Memorial Auditorium in Lowell, Massachusetts.
Heather and M from the Elegance Brand played a crucial role in the finishing sequence of the match, helping their leader earn her first TNA singles title.
After defending champ Jayne floored Slamovich with a Rolling Encore forearm, a follow-up pin attempt was stopped by the Elegance Brand members at ringside, who pulled the champ out of the ring.
Ash capitalized on this opportunity, coming off the top with a Swanton Bomb onto Slamovich for the pinfall win just moments later.
Heading into Sunday night, TNA’s top men’s and women’s titles were both held by NXT wrestlers. Jayne put an end to Slamovich’s past reign at Slammiversary last month, beating her in a title vs. title bout.
After Slammivesary, Jayne owed both Slamovich and Ash title fights – Slamovich had a rematch clause, and Ash won a battle royal for a shot at the belt. But, when she faced them on TNA TV, both bouts ended due to interference from the other contender. This caused the promotion to book a triple threat match between the talents for Heatwave.
Ash is now a double champ in TNA. She also currently holds the promotion’s women’s tag belts alongside Heather and M of the Elegance Brand, who defend the titles under Freebird rules.
Jayne is still a champ despite losing her TNA belt, as she remains the NXT Women’s Champion.
