Tony Khan wants to see Chris Jericho back on AEW programming again soon.
Jericho has been off AEW for months, with his last match dating back to an April pay-per-view bout against Bandido.
Conversations regarding Jericho’s future have started to surface online in recent weeks, with some wondering whether the ex-WWE star would consider making a return to his old stomping grounds.
Amid the speculation online, Khan was asked about Jericho’s future during a recent appearance on Columbus-based radio station Qfm96’s Torg and Elliott Show. While not providing any details as to what Jericho’s future in the company may be, Khan expressed enthusiasm about possibly having him back in the mix someday.
“Chris Jericho has been here since the very beginning, and I have so much great respect for Chris Jericho,” Khan said this week. “I do have to say, I would love to have Chris Jericho in AEW anytime, and yeah, we absolutely want Chris Jericho back in AEW, and hopefully soon. He’s been great with us and he’s been with us since the very first event. [He’s the] very first AEW world champion, and Chris is a huge part of the history of AEW and still in great shape, still a great wrestler.”
After one of the hosts replied, saying that Khan provided a “very generic quote,” the AEW CEO explained further.
“I think you gotta stay tuned to the show … That’s one of the reasons you watch the wrestling show, to see the returns.”
Jericho said earlier this month that he “wouldn’t be opposed” to a WWE run, but told the Daily Mail that he’s “not going anywhere for a while.”
