El Sky Team retained the CMLL World Trios Championships against The Don Callis Family at AEW Full Gear after continued dissension between Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita cost the challengers.

The match began on the Tailgate Brawl pre-show, with Okada initially absent due to stated “travel issues”.

Takeshita and Hechicero attacked the champions before the opening bell, and Hechicero injured Mistico’s arm by trapping it in a steel chair and wrenching it back.

Mistico was helped to the back by medical officials, leaving Mascara Dorada and Neon to compete at a disadvantage as the broadcast transitioned from the pre-show to the main pay-per-view feed.

As the main card opened, Okada made a full entrance complete with pyro, frustrating Takeshita who had been fighting shorthanded.

Although Hechicero attempted to act as a peacemaker between his partners, Okada offered a handshake only to flip Takeshita off. Mistico eventually returned to the match with his left arm bandaged to aid his partners.

Friction plagued the challengers throughout the match. At one point, Okada struck Takeshita with a Rainmaker clothesline, a move that appeared to put a smile on Okada’s face despite the friendly fire. Mistico secured the victory by countering Hechicero’s offense into a Poisonrana and applying La Mistica for the submission.

Following the loss, Don Callis left the ringside area with Okada, leaving a visibly angry Takeshita behind.
