New Japan Pro Wrestling is listing Wrestle Kingdom 20 as being sold out under its expanded configuration.
The January 4 event moved all tickets available under the previous capacity after the news that Kazuchika Okada would meet Hiroshi Tanahashi in his retirement match.
While NJPW didn’t disclose a number, a sellout of the configuration was believed to be 40,000, given that was the attendance for the first night of Wrestle Kingdom in January 2020.
New Japan stated it would expand the configuration and put additional tickets on sale, which are now sold out. NJPW released no number, but it’s nearly certain this will be the largest event the company has staged since Antonio Inoki’s retirement match at the Tokyo Dome in April 1998.
