Trick & Randy & Miz

WWE SmackDown from Berlin kicked off with Randy Orton coming out to the ring and immediately being interrupted by Trick Williams. Williams said it wasn’t 2006 anymore as the crowd chanted for an RKO. Orton retorted by saying he saw a star in Trick but questioned whether he had brains, having interrupted him. Trick knocked the microphone out of Orton’s hand, and Orton attacked, hitting him with the Draping DDT. Before Orton could hit an RKO, The Miz attacked from behind, but got an RKO for his efforts. As Orton made his way to the back, he ran into Rey Fenix coming out for his scheduled match against Williams. Orton encouraged Fenix to “kick his ass”.

Rey Fenix vs. Trick Williams

As the match began, the crowd exchanged chants of “Let’s go Fenix” and “Whoop That Trick”. Both men wowed the crowd with their impressive maneuvers. At one point, Williams caught Fenix coming off the top rope with boots to the face, followed by a spinning pump kick and a modified Book End for a near fall. Fenix hit the Adios Amigo trick and then came off the top rope only to be rolled up by Trick with a handful of tights for the cheap victory.

United States Champion Giulia and Kiana James were interviewed backstage, saying Giulia would take out the “legend” Alexa Bliss tonight. After an ad break, Damian Priest was interviewed, saying he was hurt after his Ambulance Match with Aleister Black. Priest set his sights on the WWE Championship when Drew McIntyre interrupted. Damian reminded McIntyre that his brain had been scrambled after their last encounter. Priest left, and McIntyre revealed he had Cody’s watch, given to him by Dusty Rhodes. McIntyre predicted that Rhodes would get disqualified in the first fall, and he would just need one fall to win the title.

Alexa Bliss was on the phone with Charlotte Flair, complaining that she didn’t know she had a match until today. Nia Jax and Lash Legend interrupted, insinuating that Flair wasn’t there because Alexa had a big opportunity tonight.

United States Championship

The next match saw Giulia defending her United States Championship against Alexa Bliss. Bliss took control early in the match, but the balance quickly shifted with Giulia taking control during a commercial break. Alexa set up Sister Abigail, but Kiana James jumped onto the apron, distracting the referee and Bliss. Alexa set up for the Twisted Bliss, but Lash Legend appeared, knocking her off the top rope. Giulia then hit the Northern Lights Bomb for the win. After the match, Legend and Jax attacked Alexa and left her lying after an Annhiliator.

Backstage, Nick Aldis officially welcomed Jordynee Grace to the SmackDown roster when Chelsea Green and Alba Fyre interrupted. Aldis made a match between Fyre and Grace for later tonight. Kit Wilson appeared, complaining about having to face Matt Cardona last week. Aldis asked for some time and shut his office door in Wilson’s face.

Matt Cardona was interviewed backstage, saying it had been almost six years since he was in WWE. Caronda approached Cody Rhodes, who got booed by the Berlin crowd. Cardona said he was back to win the WWE Championship, and Cody said that once he’s done with Drew, they can talk.

MFTs vs. Wyatt Sicks

The next match had Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa, Talla Tonga, and Solo Sikoa taking on The Wyatt Sicks. JC Mateo was the odd man out, forced to corner his team. We miss you, Jeff Cobb. This match was pretty straightforward, with the crowd not reacting much until after a commercial break. Rowan got into the ring and cleaned house. Rowan then faced off with Talla Tonga. Uncle Howdy was finally tagged in and took out everyone, including JC Mateo, who wasn’t even in the match. Solo Sikoa grabbed the Wyatts’ lantern, distracting Howdy. Tama Tonga hit the Cut Throat for the pinfall victory. The MFTs walked off with the lantern as the segment ended.

Backstage, The Miz ran into Carmelo Hayes, and Miz said he convinced Nick Aldis to give him a WWE Championship opportunity. Ilja Dragunov approached, saying he was on his way to talk to Aldis about something “different”.

Jordynne Grace vs. Alba Fyre

Next up was Jordynne Grace squaring off against Alba Fyre with Chelsea Green in her corner. This was essentially a showcase for Grace and a setup for a US title shot. Grace won with a Torture Rack Bomb in under three minutes. On her way to the back, Grace ran into WWE Champion Jade Cargill, who got into Jordynne’s face, saying she was on her show now.

Sami Zayn was interviewed backstage and said that a part of him wanted Drew McIntyre to win because he’s never beaten him. Sami said his money was on Cody, and he would be waiting for whoever came out on the other side.

Elsewhere backstage, Nathan Frazer was attacked by someone dressed as Axiom, but it was revealed to be Johnny Gargano.

United States Open Challenge

Carmelo Hayes’ United States Open Challenge was answered this week by Shinsuke Nakamura. Both men exchanged offense as the match began, and after a break, Nakamura took control by focusing on Hayes’ leg, effectively grounding Hayes’ offense.

Finally, Hayes attempted a comeback but continued to sell his injured leg as he adjusted his offense to compensate. After another ad break, Hayes continued his comeback, hitting Nakamura with a springboard DDT off the middle rope. Hayes countered the Kinshasa with The First 48 and followed that up with Nothing But Net for the win. After the match, the two shook hands.

Backstage, Cody Rhodes was interviewed and called Drew McIntyre lazy for involving Dusty’s legacy.

Nick Aldis announced that next week from Wembley Arena, there would be four qualifying matches with the winners going on to a Fatal 4-Way at Saturday Night’s Main Event. The winner of that match faces the WWE Champion at the Royal Rumble. The matches for next week are:

The Miz vs. Randy Orton
Matt Cardona vs. Trick Williams
Damian Priest vs. Solo Sikoa
Sami Zayn vs. Ilja Dragunov

WWE Championship Three Stages of Hell Match

Stage 1 – Singles Match

Early in the first stage, Drew McIntyre attempted to goad Cody Rhodes into hitting him with a steel chair, which would get him disqualified. Rhodes controlled the match until McIntyre pulled off a turnbuckle. The referee decided to fix it for some reason, allowing Drew to hit a low blow and a Claymore for the first fall in 3:41.

Stage 2 – Falls Count Anywhere Match

Immediately, Drew McIntyre powerbombed Rhodes through a table on the outside, nearly securing the WWE Championship. The two brawled into the crowd, and Cody grabbed a fan’s phone, biting Drew’s head for the ultimate selfie. The brawl continued into the backstage area, where Cody attempted to choke Drew with a banana. Back in the arena, Rhodes put McIntyre on a table and climbed into the stands, jumping off and putting McIntyre through a table for a near fall.

Back at the ringside area, Cody hit a Cross Rhodes through the announce desk to win the second fall at the 12:56 mark.

Stage 3 – Steel Cage Match

The third and final stage was a Steel Cage match with both men with a pinfall a piece. McIntyre almost escaped the cage early on, but Rhodes was able to grab him and pull him back in. Both men battled to the top of the cage, and Drew hit a Superplex from the top of the cage for a near fall. McIntyre then hit a Future Shock for another near-fall, as Rhodes was somehow busted open on the top of his head. The crowd began a dueling “Let’s go Cody, Cody Sucks” chant as Cody hit another Cross Rhodes but was only able to get a two count.

Rhodes hit two consecutive Cross Rhodes, but McIntyre raked Cody’s eyes to escape a third. Rhodes then went face-first into the unprotected turnbuckle and was met with a Claymore, but still managed to kick out. Both men climbed to the top of the cage again, with Cody knocking Drew off and hitting a Super Cody Cutter for yet another near fall. Wade Barrett exclaimed “holy cow,” and Joe Tessitore followed that up with “or something that comes out of their back end”.

Drew McIntyre then went to exit the cage when Jacob Fatu appeared and stopped McIntyre from exiting. Fatu got into the cage and started beating down Drew when Cody attempted to intervene, but Rhodes and Fatu started brawling. While this was going on, Drew crawled out of the ring and won the match, becoming the WWE Champion.
