Trey Miguel has stated he is stepping away from the industry following the AEW television debut of his stablemates.

The 31-year-old posted a message to his Instagram stories on Sunday, asking for privacy regarding his decision while encouraging fans to continue backing his partners.

“Taking a break from wrestling,” Miguel wrote. “Please respect my space and don’t tag me in any posts or comments. Go support the Rascalz still.”

Fightful Select is reporting that Miguel has been released from the AEW contract he recently signed, but that he remains on good terms with the company.

Miguel’s announcement comes one day after The Rascalz made their first appearance on AEW Collision. In a backstage segment, Dezmond Xavier, Zachary Wentz, and Myron Reed were introduced as the newest additions to the roster. Miguel was noticeably absent from the group, despite reports earlier in the week indicating that the entire quartet had signed with the promotion.

On Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite, AEW aired a graphic officially confirming the faction’s signing.

Miguel is best known for his tenure in TNA Wrestling, where he is a former two-time X Division Champion. He last competed on December 27 for Insane Wrestling Revolution in Monroe, Michigan. Prior to that, he teamed with Xavier, Wentz, and Reed in an eight-man tag match at the Wrestling Revolver Holiday Special on December 18.

It is currently unknown how long Miguel intends to be away from the ring.
