AEW Dynamite achieved its largest audience in months, fueled by a major increase in female viewers.

The February 4 episode from Las Vegas averaged 654,000 viewers and 204,000 viewers (0.15) in the 18-49 demographic.

It was Dynamite’s largest audience since September 17 and hits ighest 18-49 audience since November 12.

The major increase was seen among women in the key demographic, averaging 94,000 viewers and representing 46% of the overall audience in 18-49. It was the largest average among females in the demo since August and a huge increase from 47,000 last week.

The show also did a 0.11 rating among adults 18-34, which is up from 0.06 last week.

Adults 25-54 average a 0.22 rating, which grew from a 0.17 last week.

The growth coincides with a recent update to Nielsen’s methodology after announcing it was incorporating results of the DASH (Devices and Accounting Study of Hybrid viewing) survey performed by the Advertising Research Foundation.

The survey is designed to give a better representation of U.S. homes with cable

From Andy Nemmity at WrestleJoy:

The same people are watching the same shows. The system was just undercounting how many homes had cable. When you fix the denominator, the math produces bigger numbers. Nobody new turned on their TV.

DASH also found that the old system was undercounting certain types of households. The people hardest to reach in surveys (younger, more likely to be Hispanic or African American, more likely to be renters) were underrepresented. DASH used an aggressive follow-up process, including FedEx mailings and in-person door knocking to find these households, which improved the response rate by a factor of 5.8 compared to the initial survey alone. Including these households makes the universe estimate more representative of who actually lives in America and how they access television.

Last week’s episode of Dynamite experienced a 31% increase in overall viewership, but the 18-49 audience was unchanged. This week, its overall viewership was essentially unchanged, but the demo audience grew by 66%, with females doubling.
