Penelope Ford reportedly suffered an injury on Wednesday night’s episode of AEW Dynamite, causing a title matchup’s finish to get changed on the fly.
A women’s tag title bout between the Babes of Wrath and MegaBad had an abrupt ending on Wednesday night, as Lena Kross disqualified the challengers by attacking Willow Nightingale with a title at the eight-minute mark.
This awkward finish wasn’t what AEW had initially planned for the match, per a recent Fightful Select report. Instead, the call for that finish was made due to Ford suffering an injury, forcing a change of plans for the closing sequence of the bout.
There are a lot of questions we still don’t have the answers to regarding the injury Ford sustained during the match. It’s unclear what caused her to get hurt, and the severity of her setback hasn’t been disclosed yet.
Ford had just recently returned from injury, coming back in January after spending a few months away from the ring due to a torn UCL. Unfortunately, it now seems likely that she will be out of action once again.
