Oleg Boltin is the new STRONG Openweight Champion.

Boltin defeated Tomohiro Ishii at the New Beginning USA card in Trenton, New Jersey, to end the nearly one-year reign of Tomohiro Ishii.

The two had a terrific match, which was worked like a high-end G1 Climax match. It featured Ishii kicking out of Boltin’s Kamikaze.

Boltin popped Ishii into the air and hit the Verdict (F-5) and connected with a second Kamikaze to win the match and the belt.

It is Boltin’s second singles title of his career after holding the NEVER Openweight Championship last year. He becomes a double champion as a co-holder of the NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Titles with Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI.

Ishii won the STRONG Openweight title last April from Gabe Kidd at Windy City Riot in Chicago.
