Tag gold will be on the line this weekend in Arizona.
FTR will defend their AEW World Tag Team Championships on a live edition of Collision this Saturday from the Tucson Arena in Tucson.
They’ll be facing Dezmond Xavier & Zachary Wentz of The Rascalz, who earned a shot at the belts last month by beating FTR in a title eliminator bout.
A win for The Rascalz seems incredibly unlikely, as FTR is currently in a program building up a match against The Young Bucks for AEW Revolution on March 15. The matchup is the first title opportunity for The Rascalz since they joined the AEW roster earlier this year.
The tag title bout was one of three matchups revealed on Wednesday night.
It was also confirmed that Claudio Castagnoli and Konosuke Takeshita will meet in a one-on-one contest as part of this weekend’s show.
Castagnoli and Takeshita both carry non-AEW titles currently: Castagnoli is CMLL’s World Heavyweight Champion, and Takeshita recently took the NJPW World Television Championship off El Phantasmo. It seems plausible that whoever wins on Saturday could be next in line for a shot at their opponent’s belt.
Swerve Strickland will go head-to-head with Mexico’s Gravity as part of the lineup. The bout will be Gravity’s first AEW TV appearance since late 2023. He last worked AEW-adjacent programming in November, taking on The Beast Mortos as part of a Ring of Honor Youtube special.
It was confirmed last weekend that La Faccion Ingobernable’s Dralistico and Rush will return as part of a $200,000 four-way tag match on Saturday night. Here’s an updated look at this weekend’s Collision:
- Konosuke Takeshita vs. Claudio Castagnoli
- Swerve Strickland vs. Gravity
- Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd vs. Zay Kassidy & Marq Quen vs. Dralistico & Rush vs. Blake Christian & Lee Johnson
- Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler vs. Zachary Wentz & Dezmond Xavier (AEW World Tag Team Championships)
