It felt fitting that International Women’s Day was the date for Pro Wrestling EVE’s biggest card yet, Wrestle Queendom VIII.

Sunday’s show, from a packed and enthusiastic Indigo at the O2 in London, England, saw the best names in British women’s wrestling showcased on the same night as stand-out names from AEW, STARDOM, and elsewhere also hit the ring.

While women from all around the world were celebrated on the night, it was a pair of EVE veterans who got the spotlight to close out the show.

Session Moth Martina, a woman who has competed for EVE since 2017, kicked off her first-ever run as the EVE Champion in the main event, going a grueling half-an-hour to defeat Rhio.

Rhio and Martina engaged in a violent battle which became bloody early on. Rhio introduced kendo sticks, a trashcan, and thumbtacks into the match early on and spent a large part of the main event’s early goings putting together a brutal beatdown on Martina.

Martina’s forehead was cut open after taking a trashcan to the dome early in the bout. Another big highlight from when Rhio had control of the match was a piledriver which sent both women through a table at ringside.

Martina started to mount a comeback late, but had to overcome interference along the way. A pin attempt from Martina was interrupted by Alexxis Falcon, who pulled the referee out of the ring.

Following a ref bump, a troop of EVE heels hit the ring in hopes of helping Rhio retain. But, a babyface group followed, led by Jamie Hayter, Alex Windsor, and the returning Millie McKenzie to even the odds.

With both factions out of the way, Martina scored a spear, clothesline, top-rope codebreaker, then a brainbuster for the pinfall win.

A feel-good moment unravelled in the post-match, as the London fans embraced their new champ. The O2 concert hall, full of glowsticks handed out in support of the babyface challenger, cheered as the locker room lifted her into the air. She was hugged by EVE producer Will Ospreay and presented a new title by the promotion’s owners.

Rhio held EVE’s title since November, when she dethroned Nyla Rose in a 27-minute contest.

Charlie (formerly Dakota Kai) returns against Kris Statlander in co-main

The co-main event of the night was the matchup which attracted the most international interest, as it saw the return of a popular name who had spent the better part of a year in the shadows.

In her first appearance after a lengthy WWE run under the name Dakota Kai, the New Zealand vet kicked off the next chapter of her career on Sunday night, wrestling for the first time under the pseudonym Charlie.

Charlie, who made her long-awaited return this weekend, came up short in a 13-minute matchup against EVE International Champion and AEW star Kris Statlander.

Charlie showed no ring rust after nearly a year away, pulling out big moves like a backstabber on the ring apron and a Canadian Destroyer for a near fall. Statlander tried to put away Charlie with a Tombstone Piledriver, but Charlie’s leg was on the bottom rope as the champ went for the pin. So, to end things for good, Statlander hit three more piledrivers before going for another pin.

Sunday was Charlie’s first non-WWE appearance since 2018, when she wrapped up her dates for PROGRESS. She said in a recent interview that her return to wrestling is focused on finding “that love in terms of why I do this again.”

Statlander has held EVE’s secondary title for nearly 250 days, retaining the title with past wins over names like Nina Samuels, Anita Vaughan, and Alex Windsor.

Earlier in the night: Windsor captures NJPW title, Willow Nightingale defends TBS belt, numerous surprises in 16-woman match

The first title change of the night saw Alex Windsor end Syuri’s run as a double champ, taking her NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship following a physical 16-minute battle. Windsor, who currently competes in AEW as one-half of the Brawling Birds, put away Syuri following a pair of lariats then a Made in Japan. The result avenged a loss Windsor suffered against Syuri as part of a 2025 EVE card.

AEW’s Willow Nightingale went 15 minutes against decorated EVE talent Nina Samuels to retain her TBS Championship in a highlight of the evening. Samuels, who has put together past reigns with each of EVE’s titles, had some convincing near falls in the match, including an incredible 450 Splash for a two-count. But it was a thudding pounce from Nightingale followed up by a Doctor Bomb which gave her the pinfall win. Sunday was the first time Nightingale has defended her TBS title outside of an AEW ring.

The LALLIE duo of Hollie Barlow and Lana Austin turned back Australia’s Jessia Troy and Charli Evans to retain the EVE Tag Team Championships. This was an impressive turnaround for Evans and Troy, who had worked a match in New South Wales on Friday, hopped on an airplane, then worked a match Sunday in London.

Although the match came amid significant technical issues with the broadcast, making it hard to follow, STARDOM’s AZM and Safire Reed put together a stand-out performance early on the card, making the most of their 10-minute spot on the show.

The night started with a Sudden Death 16 (EVE’s version of a Casino Gauntlet Battle Royal), a match which was full of surprises. After an unexpected cameo from former EVE champ Nyla Rose, the return of Joshi talent Yuu, who was coming out of retirement for the match, and Charlie Morgan’s first in-ring appearance in nearly two years, it was Alexxis Falcon who emerged on top. In a nod to the promotion’s past, Falcon had a head-to-head battle with Emersyn Jayne at one point, who she faced in the main event of the first-ever Wrestle Queendom.
