Drew quits
This week’s SmackDown opened with Nick Aldis looking over the contract for Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton’s WrestleMania match, but Drew McIntyre emerged from the crowd and demanded that Aldis face him and “make things right.” Aldis said there wasn’t anything that needed to be done because McIntyre lost in a fair match, while noting he headbutted a referee and should face the consequences of his actions. McIntyre pointed out that Jacob Fatu interfered in the match, but goes back to Aldis favoring his “golden boy,” Rhodes, and calls Aldis a “corporate stooge. He said the situation is BS and demanded that Aldis make it right, or else. Jacob Fatu then entered and told McIntyre that he wouldn’t have been champion if it wasn’t for him, and what he did last week was to make things right. He added that McIntyre shouldn’t worry about blaming everyone else and should focus on the fact that he “screwed his ass.” McIntyre had had enough and yelled, “I quit,” and stormed off.
Oh, so he’s serious??!!? @DMcIntyreWWE QUITS. 😳 pic.twitter.com/gAyF0C8q3K

Shinsuke-Tama
The MFTs are backstage, as Solo Sikoa and Talla Tonga prepare for their tag match against the Wyatt Sicks. Sikoa hands the lantern to Tama Tonga, telling him to protect it because if the Wyatts don’t have it, then they’re nothing. Shinsuke Nakamura shows up behind Tonga and asks him when he’s going to be his own man. He said other things in Japanese before Sikoa told Nakamura to stay away from his family.
Whoop that Fatu
Fatu and Aldis try to figure out what happened after McIntyre said he quit. Fatu said he was ready to whoop McIntyre, prompting Trick Williams to accuse Fatu of gimmick infringement. He told Aldis to do his job, and Fatu retorted back that his job is to whoop Williams’ ass. Fatu said he’s tired of being disrespected, as is Williams, who noted he also was disrespected by Orton last week. Aldis noted that Orton is busy with his contract signing, so Williams can resolve his issue with Fatu tonight, which doesn’t please Williams.
The MFTs vs. The Wyatt Sicks
Solo Sikoa and Talla Tonga were in control from the start, sending Uncle Howdy onto the barricade and announce desk. Howdy eventually got the hot tag in Erick Rowan, who cleaned house. The MFTs nearly won when Sikoa got a blind tag, Samoan Spike, and a splash, but Rowan got his knees up. Talla Tonga sends Rowan outside, and the rest of the MFTs and Wyatts brawl outside. Sikoa cleans house and sets up Howdy for the Samoan Spike, but Nikki Cross takes the opportunity to take back the lantern. That helps Howdy set Sikoa up for Sister Abigail to win. Howdy thought he finally had the lantern back, but Tama Tonga sneaks up from behind to take it back.
The Wyatt Sicks may have picked up the win, but The MFTs weren't letting them leave with that lantern… 👀 pic.twitter.com/4e63IEqwxg

Another No. 1 contender match
R-Truth seemed to have thought the MFTs were the Judgment Day. Damian Priest tries to tell him they aren’t and says they’re going to beat them for their tag team titles. Los Garza come in and point out that they did most of the work in the gauntlet match last week. Priest tells Truth he knows what that means. Truth said that Los Garza weren’t wearing deodorant, which wasn’t what Priest was referring to. Instead, he set up a tag match for later tonight.
Tiffy Time over?
Giulia and Kiana James cut a promo on Tiffay Stratton ahead of James’ match against Stratton, with Giulia saying Stratton won’t get a chance at her United States title so easily.
Michin vs. Jade Cargill
Michin attacked Cargill from behind before the match started, making this much more of a contest than expected. Michin got close to winning when she hit Sliced Bread and Eat Defeat, but Cargill rolled out of the ring. Michin missed a rolling senton, and Cargill powerbombs her back-first on the barricade. Cargill kisses Michin before chokeslamming her and hitting Jaded for the win.
Cargill got the mic and said that’s what happens when a wrestler believes their own hype. She questioned why she should be scared of Rhea Ripley. “Scared of what? Who?” She said she doesn’t see a challenger or a threat, and after WrestleMania, she’ll show why she’s always on top. Rhea Ripley then walks her way toward the ring, but Cargill rolls out. Ripley said Cargill isn’t the embodiment of female empowerment, and after WrestleMania, she’ll make Cargill her b-tch.
We are SAT for @Jade_Cargill vs. @RheaRipley_WWE at WrestleMania 👏👏👏 pic.twitter.com/0SQC4iQdcd

Weekly Sami crashout
Cody submitted his contract to Aldis, and Sami Zayn entered. Sami said he didn’t want this to be a thing and congratulated Cody on winning the title and entering WrestleMania as champion. He said he’ll be rooting for him, which Cody pointed out is what Sami told Orton last week. Cody asked if Sami was angling for a title match when he hadn’t even faced Orton yet. Sami told Cody not to think so lowly of him and said he said that to Orton because he looks up to Orton and there will never be another like him. He said he doesn’t look up to Cody because they’re friends, and friends are supposed to be equals. Cody admitted he does look up to Sami and that he inspires him. Cody is OK with Sami not looking up to him because he just needs to look at his title. Sami crashed out on water bottles again, and Malakai Black and Zelina Vega confronted him. Black told Sami that chasing the world title might not be meant for him. Sami told them to stay far, far away from him, as Vega pointed out that all that anger might not be good for Sami.
Pity Party
Rhea told Michin she did well in her effort against Jade. Michin told her she didn’t need her pity, and B-Fab tried her best to smooth things over.
Bella Twins shoot their shot
Before the women’s tag team title match, the Bella Twins made an appearance in their hometown. The Bellas told Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss that they’re going for gold and are next in line against whoever won. They sat ringside for the match.

The Irresistible Forces vs. Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair
The Irresistible Forces caught Bliss and Flair off guard and maintained control throughout the match, isolating Bliss. Flair got a hot tag, took out Nia Jax, and went to work on Lash Legend. Jax tagged in and got a nearfall after a Samoan Drop. She missed the Annihilator, and Charlotte hit a moonsault, but Lash broke it up. Bliss caught Lash with a DDT, as Jax and Flair took the action outside. Nia almost crashes into the Bellas and throws Nikki into a Flair boot. Nia piefaced Brie, as the action went back inside. Nia missed a leg drop. Flair countered with Natural Selection to set up Alexa for Twisted Bliss, but Brie attacked Nia to end the match in a DQ. The Irresistible Forces cleaned house and set up Nikki for a guillotine leg drop.

Jelly Roll reunion
R-Truth and Jelly Roll caught up, where Truth called Jelly Roll “Sushi Roll,” as Priest grabbed Truth for their tag match. Jelly and Orton reunite, and Jelly congratulated Randy on his Elimination Chamber win. Jelly asked Randy for advice for his MizTV appearance, and Randy told him that when Miz starts flapping his gums, whoop his ass.
Bellas still next in line
Charlotte, Alexa, and The Bellas went face-to-face backstage. Charlotte and Alexa pointed out that they would have won the match if the Bellas hadn’t interfered. The Bellas said they were defending each other and that Aldis told them they were next in line for the tag titles.
Los Garza vs. Damian Priest & R-Truth
Priest and Truth were still getting used to being a tag team, and Los Garza’s chemistry shone through. Truth was isolated until he got the hot tag to Priest, and he cleaned house. The match ended with an Attitude Adjustment and South of Heaven from Truth and Priest, respectively.
Johnny still in a funk
Alex Shelley and Candice LeRae still can’t get Johnny Gargano out of his funk. LeRae thinks she might have found a way to get Johnny Wrestling back. Chris Sabin isn’t happy with Shelley wasting his time with Gargano and said he got them a match against Fraxiom for next week.
Mizhausen
Danhausen met up with his mentor, The Miz. Danhausen showed off his new t-shirt and revealed his plan to replace MizTV, which didn’t make Miz happy. Danhausen did The Miz’s “really” bit and cursed him.

Toxic Jelly Roll
Jelly Roll came out as a guest on MizTV. The Miz asked Jelly if he wanted him as his mentor. Jelly simply said, “No.” The Miz got angry at Jelly’s “obese butt” and took credit for his 250-pound weight loss. Jelly got angry and said it was him who did the work and called Miz a locker room loser. Kit Wilson comes out, and Jelly admitted he was a fan and did the hip dance. Kit wasn’t having it and said he didn’t like Jelly’s face tattoos and called him a bad influence, even “fatphobic.” He said Jelly’s way of life was toxic. Jelly was about to throw a shot at Kit, but he avoided it, and Miz took the hit instead.

Internal struggle
Ilja Dragunov and Carmelo Hayes laughed at The Miz before talking about why they haven’t faced each other. Hayes thought the open challenge might be too much of a burden. He was sympathetic to Dragunov’s story about his mother, but he said he takes his shots like Bam Adebayo. He wondered if there was something more to why he won’t challenge him. Ilja said he can’t fight Melo because he’s fighting himself.
Reverse the curse
Kit lamented how what happened on MizTV was “toxic, toxic, toxic.” Danhausen asked Miz if he had any teeth for his collection, and told Miz he knew what to do to reverse the curse he put on him.
Kiana James vs. Tiffany Stratton
Stratton cut a promo before this match, eyeing Giulia’s U.S. title, while pushing Chelsea Green out of her way. James did what she could to contain Stratton’s athleticism. She got a nearfall with a Falcon Arrow, as Chelsea Green and Alba Fyre made their way ringside. Stratton avoided a powerbomb, hit a rolling senton, and looked for the Prettiest Moonsault Ever, but Giulia dragged James outside. Stratton hit a suicide dive, and Green tried to hit them with a wrench. Stratton and James went back in the ring, and Giulia tried to intervene, but James accidentally hit Giulia with a boot, sending her into Green and Fyre. Stratton hit the rolling senton into the PME for the win.

Taste of his own medicine
Trick Williams was preparing for his upcoming match against Jacob Fatu, then Sami Zayn confronted him about how much talking he’s been doing. He asked Trick what happened when he said he’d win the Elimination Chamber and called him out for calling him “Mr. Can’t Get The Job Done.” Trick wasn’t happy about getting called out, and Sami said he’s here every week if he wanted to do something about it.
Trick Williams vs. Jacob Fatu
A clash of styles brought a solid back-and-forth match. Fatu continuously caught Williams off guard with his athleticism, but Trcik held his own, getting a nearfall, countering the cannonball with a dropkick, followed up by a neckbreaker. The crowd was on Trick’s side in the closing stretch, as he started to gain momentum. However, a superkick, a pop-up Samoan Drop, and a running hip attack helped Fatu turn the corner. He hit a Swanton Bomb for a two-count of his own. Trick rolled out of the ring to avoid the Best Moonsault Ever from Fatu, but Fatu hit a diving elbow. Drew McIntyre attacked Fatu from behind, with Trick distracting the referee. He hit a Trick Shot, followed up by a running knee for the win.

McIntyre stood over Fatu after the match, laid him out with a Claymore and gave him a thumbs down.
WrestleMania main event set
Cody reminisced about his past with Orton and said that he’s not his son, but he is Orton’s boy. Orton admitted he needed this but didn’t imagine he’d face Cody at WrestleMania and thought it’d be Drew. Cody said it was OK and knew that once the bells ring, he’ll get the Legend Killer and the real Randy Orton. The two shook hands, and Orton turned on Cody. He hit a low blow and battered Cody all around the ring. He threw Cody across on the announce desk and busted Cody open. He laid Cody out with the steel steps behind his head. Orton even pushed Jelly Roll out of the way. Randy looked around as the crowd chanted his name and then grabbed a chair and hit the steel steps with Cody’s head on it. The show ended with Orton sitting down with the title as Aldis called for medical attention.
