AEW’s Megan Bayne is heading overseas in search of gold later this month.
Bayne, one-half of the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions, is booked to face IWGP Women’s Champion Syuri as part of STARDOM’s April 26 All Star Grand Queendom card from the Yokohama Arena in Yokohama, Japan.
The first-time one-on-one meeting between these two is a return for Bayne, who has been a frequent name for STARDOM since 2023. She participated in last year’s Goddesses of STARDOM Tag League, making it to the tournament’s semi-finals alongside HANAKO.
If successful, the victory will mark Bayne’s first singles title victory in Japan.
Syuri has carried the IWGP Women’s Championship since October, when she took the belt off Sareee. She has defended the title twice since then, notably overcoming ROH Women’s World Champion Athena as part of a card earlier this year.
While she briefly held double-champ status after taking Saya Kamitani’s NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship, she dropped that belt last month to Alex Windsor as part of a Pro Wrestling EVE show.
The main attraction for STARDOM’s upcoming big event is a World of STARDOM Championship match between 2025 Tokyo Sports MVP Saya Kamitani and Sayaka Kurara. The match comes with a stipulation that Kurara must dissolve the babyface Cosmic Angels faction if unsuccessful in the bout.
