AAW will need to find a new home venue after the Berwyn Eagles Club incident on March 28.
The promotion announced that its May 22 event will be held at 115 Bourbon Street in Merrionette Park, Ill. It will be the first time AAW has returned to the venue since 2023, and the announcement added that its August and November shows will also be held at Merrionette Park. The venue for its June, September and December events would be announced once a new venue is set.
AAW will hold its final event at the Berwyn Eagles Club on April 24 after calling the venue home for over two decades.
The Berwyn Eagles Club stated it would not host pro wrestling events after it was alleged that a fan attacked and stabbed pro wrestler Krule / Mads Krule Krugger during a Ruthless Pro Wrestling show. The Berwyn Police Department confirmed that no stabbing occurred after an incident report was released to POST Wrestling, following a Freedom of Information request to obtain records of the investigation.
Multiple videos surfaced that showed Krule throwing the first punch at his merch table before the fan was swarmed. Neither video showed a visible weapon. Multiple wrestlers shared firsthand accounts of the incident, and promoter Brett Lauderdale called it a “fake stabbing.”
Detective William Massuci of the Berwyn PD was tasked with the investigation, but the case has closed, stating there was no stabbing and that the wrestler doesn’t want to pursue any criminal complaints.
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched by Jon Craft to raise $3,000 for “essential operating costs” to keep the Berwyn Eagle Club alive.
