We got a vignette recapping the Roman Reigns-Jacob Fatu feud.

Jacob’s final message

Jacob Fatu said that when people see Roman Reigns, they see the future, but when they see him, they see nothing. He said people weren’t trying to protect him, they were protecting Roman. The Usos came out, and Jimmy told Jacob he’s proud of him but wondered if he’d thought about what would happen if he lost. Jey said Jacob doesn’t think like that, and how Roman will beat his ass at Backlash, but that won’t be the worst part. Roman will beat him physically and emotionally right in front of his family. Jacob told The Usos that he can’t lose and pointed out to Jey that he’s never beaten Roman. He said that there is no losing, no acknowledging, and his family will see him become the new World Heavyweight Champion. He warned The Usos that if they interfered, he would burn the family tree down.

Ricky’s new direction

After Nick Aldis addressed Gunther, Ricky Saints came up to him and said he had a great debut. He went toe-to-toe with QB1, but now has to face QB4. Matt Cardona entered and told Ricky that he’s not here to pass the torch.

MFT addition?

Royce Keys met up with Jacob backstage and gave him a pep talk. He then ran into Solo Sikoa, who told Keys that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time last week. He said that there was room in his family, but time is running out for Keys to answer.

Women’s United States Championship: Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Kiana James

Chelsea Green sent a good luck message to Stratton from the hospital before the match. Kiana targeted Tiffany’s left leg, but after the picture-in-picture break, she tried to distract the referee so that Giulia could get a cheap shot in. Giulia doesn’t, and Kiana confronted her about it. Tiffany mounted her comeback when Kiana went back in the ring, hitting a handspring elbow, a handspring stunner and a dropkick for a two-count. Kiana followed up with a handspring kick and a butterfly Death Valley Driver for a nearfall. Giulia distracted the referee, and Kiana rolled up Tiffany, but the ref was busy with Giulia. Tiffany took down Giulia and hit Kiana with the rolling senton, followed up by the Prettiest Moonsault Ever for the win.

Gingerbread Man service

A bunch of talent was backstage, wearing all black and crying with the Gingerbread Man in a casket. Sami Zayn asked Nick Aldis if he was being serious with all this. Nick said that people need time to grieve. R-Truth snuck up on Sami and handed him a rose. He told Sami he could see the family resemblance and told him not to cry.

Rhea-Charlotte tensions

After a recap of Fatal Influence’s actions, Cathy Kelly was backstage with Rhea Ripley, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss. Rhea and Charlotte bickered over Rhea’s word choices about how she’ll deal with Fatal Influence. Alexa tried to play peacemaker, with Charlotte and Rhea trying to get the last word in.

Priest alone

R-Truth met up with Damian Priest, who was focused on getting revenge on Talla Tonga for last week. He noted his experience in the Judgment Day and told Truth to stay behind because he’s not 100%.

Damian Priest vs. Talla Tonga

Priest had the jump on Talla to start the match, but Talla threw Priest into the steel post and slammed him onto the announce desk. After making his comeback, Priest set up South of Heaven, but Tama Tonga and Solo came in for distractions. R-Truth came to help, but Priest had to save him. That set up Talla to attack Priest and win with a chokeslam. After the match, the MFTs surrounded Truth, who was tending to Priest. Royce Keys came in for the save, and Solo held off the MFTs.

Toxic Danhausen

Danhausen was backstage with a sign-up sheet. The Miz and Kit Wilson make fun of Danhausen for not being able to find a tag partner, saying, “You are toxic.” Miz wants to beat up Danhausen, but Kit said that emotionally mature men can wait until SmackDown. He told Danhausen that the only person toxic enough to tag with him is himself, as he pointed a mirror at Danhausen, who seemed to be inspired and ran off.

A vignette played for the Gingerbread Man, where iconic WWE moments played, with the Gingerbread inserted in the crowd. There were Hulk Hogan-Andre the Giant, Stone Cold, and John Cena moments that played.

Heyman and Cody trade words

Paul Heyman met with Nick Aldis backstage, with the former handing over a contract. Gunther seems officially to be on SmackDown, but Cody Rhodes’ entrance played, which didn’t make him happy. Heyman confronted Cody and revealed that the contract is in his favor that he owes Gunther. It is a title match for Clash in Italy, which the crowd didn’t like and responded by chanting “USA.” Cody pointed out that Brock Lesnar retired on him, the Tribal Chief wants nothing to do with him, and CM Punk discarded him, so he asked if Heyman was out of options. Heyman responded by saying, “I’m not the one running out of options. Sooner or later, they all need the Wise Man.” Gunther then snuck up on Cody, but he fought him off. Gunther kept trying to get into the ring and attack Cody, but he continued to fight him off. He told Gunther that he may have beaten Goldberg, A.J. Styles, and the greatest of all time, John Cena, but on SmackDown, he’s easy to find, hard to beat.

Solo-Tama tensions

Tama Tonga wasn’t happy about Royce Keys, but Solo, for some reason, believes he’d be a great fit for the family. Tama wanted to take care of Keys, and Solo stopped Talla from running after Tama, telling him that if he wanted to do it alone, then let him.

Ricky Saints vs. Matt Cardona

This was one of the rare moments when the crowd was disengaged from the show, even though they had been hot for almost everything. There was a moment where it seemed like a fan got kicked out, and fans were singing goodbye to them. During that time, Saints hit a Revolution DDT and Roshambo for the win.

Sami going crazy

Sami is crashing out over the Gingerbread Man funeral again. He shouted his complaints at a planking Johnny Gargano, who seemed to respond when Sami asked if he’s still Johnny Wrestling, but Candice LeRae wasn’t buying it. Sami then saw Rey Fenix and asked why he was there. Fenix told him it wasn’t the place and to calm down.

Another Blake Monroe vignette played, where she talked about a mirror and how she can take everything you love and make it hers.

Women’s tag scene gets heated

Brie Bella and Paige called out the Judgment Day for calling them “hasbeens.” Paige said that term is used for people who are trying to recreate the magic, but Brie and she are the best they’ve ever looked and been. They told Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez that if they wanted to step up, then step up. Fatal Influence came up and said they shouldn’t be worried about Judgment Day and how they’ve taken over SmackDown. That takeover will happen when they win the tag titles and when Jacy Jayne becomes champion. The Irresistible Forces also came out and said that Fatal Influence skipped the line. The crowd chanted, “Whoop that trick,” and Nia tried to play that off by calling Fatal Influence, “trick, trick, trick.” They took out Paige and Brie as Rhea entered and stared down The Irresistible Forces.

Another vignette played, showing the Gingerbread Man involved in iconic WWE moments, such as Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth’s wedding, DX’s WCW invasion, and Brock Lesnar ending the Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak.

Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss & Rhea Ripley vs. Fatal Influence

Fatal Influence was in control over Rhea, but she got a hot tag to Charlotte, who landed a double Natural Selection for a nearfall. Alexa tagged in, but a Sister Abigail attempt was countered with a running neckbreaker. Fallon Henley tried to tag in, but the referee didn’t see it, and while dealing with her, Jade Cargill pulled Rhea off the apron. Jacy hit Rolling Encore for the win. Jade, Michin and B-Fab attacked the babyfaces.

Another Gingerbread Man vignette showing him in the crowd when Kurt Angle sprayed milk at the Alliance, in a streaming chair when CM Punk returned at Survivor Series, and in the ring when Cody finished the story.

Royce Keys vs. Tama Tonga

Before the match, The Usos confronted Keys and told him to stay in his lane, or the Tribal Chief might have his eye on him. Earlier in the match, Solo stopped Talla from interfering, and that played a part in the finish, where Talla had another opportunity that Solo prevented, opting to let Tama do it on his own. Tama leaped from the second rope, but Keys caught him for the Ultimate Spinebuster for the win.

Mad Scientisthausen

Danhausen was backstage with an experiment, and even had organ music played. He seemed to be trying to clone himself to be his tag partner, but the contraption broke.

Shinsuke lurking

Tama Tonga was recovering from his loss, and Shinsuke Nakamura came up to him. He said he’s disappointed and pointed out that his brother won’t come. Talla came in and told Nakamura to stay away from his brother or else they’ll have problems.

Gingerbread Man funeral

Earlier, Aldis told Trick Williams that all accommodations were made. There’s an open casket with the Gingerbread Man, flowers, and a choir. Trick walked into the ring drinking milk. He sang a song with the choir, and an AI “In Memoriam” video played for the Gingerbread Man. Fans chanted, “Gingerbread.” Sami crashed out after the brief moment of silence. He said TV time used to mean something, closing out SmackDown used to mean something. He pointed out how much money the funeral must have cost and called himself a working-class hero. He said at Backlash, he’ll make a joke out of Trick. He then attacked Trick, but then the Gingerbread Man rose up. He took off the mask, revealing Lil Yachty, who saved Trick by attacking Sami with a candy cane. Trick landed the Trick Shot to stand tall.
