IYO SKY has defeated Asuka following a competitive encounter at WWE Backlash.

The contest began amidst loud crowd chants for recently departed WWE talent Kairi Sane.

Both women engaged in a tentative feeling-out process before the physical intensity rapidly escalated.

Asuka controlled the early portion of the match by utilizing strikes and submissions on the outside of the ring. SKY eventually countered a prolonged offensive stretch by transitioning a victory roll into a double stomp.

The action spilled onto the announce desk late in the match. Asuka attempted to spray her signature blue mist, but SKY grabbed broadcaster Wade Barrett’s notebook to block the liquid. SKY capitalized with a diving crossbody off the table and an Asai moonsault to the floor.

Returning to the ring, Asuka intercepted a top-rope attack and applied multiple submissions, including the Asuka Lock. SKY escaped the holds, delivered a German suplex, and executed her running double knee strike. She then connected with the Over the Moonsault to secure the pinfall victory.

An emotional scene unfolded following the conclusion of the match. SKY bowed deeply to her former mentor. A visibly crying Asuka smiled, hugged her opponent, and raised SKY’s hand in a clear show of mutual respect.
