GCW’s Brett Lauderdale on TrillerTV’s problems: “I remain optimistic that there will be a sale and the company will continue”

GCW owner Brett Lauderdale is optimistic for a resolution in TrillerTV’s woes involving its parent company.

The streamer, previously marketed as “FITE TV”, was recently sued by AEW, claiming nearly $5 million in back payments that have yet to be distributed to the wrestling company. AEW has severed its working relationship with Triller TV as an international distributor of its weekly programming, and one of several pay-per-view distributors.

After AEW’s exit, Game Changer Wrestling remains the streamer’s largest professional wrestling partner, running 74 events in 2025 between GCW and Jersey Championship Wrestling.

Lauderdale responded to the news of AEW’s lawsuit and gave context to some of the problems TrillerTV (a subsidiary of Triller Group) is experiencing and the effort to separate itself from the parent company.

TrillerTV/TrillerTV+ is basically the artist formerly known as FiteTV (flipps media), its the wrestling wing of the umbrella/parent company and operates mostly independently of the rest of the parent company (TRILLER)… The TrillerTV (fite) platform/app still works great and it still has a sizeable monthly subscriber base & accompanying revenue (in addition to the standalone ppvs). The “issue” (as noted in filing) is that while this “wing” of the entity operates independently, the revenue it generates still goes into the parent companys purse…

And the parent company (as the owner) can do whatever it wants with those funds (redirect to other projects, etc) even if it means neglecting some (or alot) of its commitments to its existing partners FiteTV was never TRILLER’s main priority – the triller tiktok style app is/was.

So while theres revenue coming in and some folks continue to get paid, there are also many that aren’t and most arent being paid in full or are owed significant amounts… Heres what i gather (my educated insight as someone who reads these developments from a diff perspective):

The parent company (located in china) is indifferent to trillerTV and its $ issues The trillertv (fite) entity is going to be sold, but they cant until the court gives the freedom to make a move without the parents companys consent (they appear to & claim to have been abandoned).

So while this is a pretty tough circumstance for many (aew, gcw and many smaller partners), i remain optimistic that eventually there will be a resolution (sale) and the company will continue on without the burder (sic) of an umbrella that is siphoning the revenue Fingers crossed.

There have been so many really good people involved w fite over the years, mike weber, keith Evans, kosta and all the people overseas They truly pushed wrestling and combat sports streaming forward, hopefully this part of their legacy can continue in a positive manner.

POST Wrestling’s Brandon Thurston broke the story about the lawsuit by AEW and a subsequent suit by TrillerTV against its parent company.

The two cases, read together, reveal a more complete picture of Triller’s financial and corporate troubles, which have also been evident from regulatory filings over the last twelve months.

Flipps Media Inc., the corporate entity underlying TrillerTV, told the Delaware Chancery Court that the company is insolvent, meaning it’s unable to pay its debts. Flipps says the company lacks a board of directors, a fact that prevents it from filing for bankruptcy. Flipps is asking the Court to declare that its officers are its board of directors so Flipps can consider whether bankruptcy is in the best interests of the company and its creditors.

FITE TV was acquired by Triller in April 2021, and a deal was announced with Game Changer Wrestling in November 2022. The move allowed GCW to pivot from selling its shows individually to becoming part of a subscription package on FITE+ (now TrillerTV+), where access to all its shows was available under each user’s monthly subscription, including shows over WrestleMania Week.

TrillerTV’s wrestling clients also include 1 Fall Wrestling, Awesome Championship Wrestling, PROGRESS Wrestling, House of Glory, Memphis Championship Wrestling, and select CMLL events.

GCW will be running events this weekend with ‘Gateway to Death’ on Saturday and ‘Ring of Dreams’ on Sunday, which are scheduled to stream on TrillerTV+.
