Warner Bros. Discovery paid tribute to the late Ted Turner at the beginning of its upfront presentation on Wednesday morning.

The media tycoon and founder of CNN passed away last week at the age of 87 after battling Lewy body dementia for nearly a decade.

At the start of Wednesday’s upfront presentation, anchor Anderson Cooper threw to a video tribute to Turner and followed with a statement to the attendees at the Madison Square Garden Theatre:

Businessman, yachtsman, media maverick, conservationist. Ted Turner was so many things, but I knew him as the founder of CNN and Turner broadcasting, a bold visionary with an unrivaled work ethic.

He believed in the value of people’s access to information, and he built a company that has impacted not only everyone in this room, but anyone who has ever watched television. The legacy that he built continues to inspire this industry every day and it will for years to come. So before we start today’s presentation, I just wanted to leave you with this famous Ted saying which feels appropriate for today: ‘Early to bed, early to rise, work like hell and advertise!’ (Courtesy: Variety)

Turner’s passing was recognized by WWE and AEW last week, with the latter kicking off Dynamite with a tribute by Tony Schiavone and a cameo appearance by Sting.
