Tony D’Angelo will defend the NXT Championship next Tuesday and is teasing a forthcoming match with Naraku down the road.
Tuesday’s episode of NXT featured the announcement that Kam Hendrix will earn a shot at the championship next week after pinning D’Angelo in a tag match last week. The segment featured Naraku confronting D’Angelo and stated he would protect D’Angelo until they have their own match, eventually.
D’Angelo’s defense will be joined by a Speed Championship match involving Lexis King defending the title against Tuesday’s winner of the #1 contender’s tournament. Sean Legacy and Dorian Van Dux wrestled to the three-minute time limit on one side of the bracket. Therefore, both were eliminated and opened the door for Romeo Moreno to clinch the title shot after pinning Nathan Frazer right before the time limit expired in 2:58.
Additional matches scheduled for next week will see Zaria taking on Lizzy Rain, and Tate Wilder facing Jackson Drake of Vanity Project.
In two weeks, NXT will host a “Mr. NXT Pageant” between Shiloh Hill and Tristan Angels.
