Speculation regarding Smackdown potentially moving back to two hours can finally end, it seems.
TV listings for the USA Network show that a July 3 episode of WWE’s Friday Night Smackdown will only be two hours, running from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET. The listing is the first time in months that the show has gone back down from three hours.
Smackdown has flipped between being two and three hours over the past couple of years.
In 2025, Smackdown started as a three-hour program before reverting to its traditional two-hour runtime by July. Similarly, it got extended to three hours at the start of 2026.
Reports earlier this year suggested that Smackdown could’ve moved down to two hours in June, a change that some thought would coincide with the premiere for Season 2 of Braun Strowman’s “Everything on the Menu,” a food show that airs following episodes of WWE.
It seems as though programming change for Smackdown will be happening after all, albeit a little later than some had projected.
While it seems unlikely, there’s still a possibility that Smackdown reverting to two hours is a one-off. Public listings for USA Network only extend as far as Tuesday, July 7, currently, meaning we don’t know how long the following week’s episode is scheduled for just yet.
