Dustin Poirier addresses recent arrest: “I need some help, walking away from fighting hasn’t been easy on me”

Dustin Poirier addressed his recent arrest for public drunkenness after police bodycam footage emerged from the incident.

The former UFC fighter was arrested this past weekend at an airport in Atlanta, with footage showing Poirier upset and challenging a police officer to fight.

TMZ obtained the police bodycam footage where Poirier is visibly upset with the agent at the gate, and it escalates when the responding officer attempts to calm Poirier.

At one point, it appears the officer is prepared to use a taser and prompts Poirier to respond, “You gonna tase me? You gonna tase me, dog? I’m gonna bang you up.”

Poirier posted the following message to Instagram:

I’m at the point where I need some help, walking away from fighting hasn’t been easy on me and alcohol isn’t the answer. It has ruined my father’s life and I will not allow it to ruin mine, my family deserve me at 100%. I’m trying to do everything I can to get my mind right and take the right next steps.

Poirier would be arrested and booked at the Clayton County Jail with a bond posted several hours later, according to MMA Fighting.

Poirier, 37, retired last July at UFC 318 in his hometown of New Orleans, dropping a decision to Max Holloway for the BMF Championship. He has been involved in some of the biggest fights of the past five years against Holloway, Islam Makhachev, Justin Gaethje, Michael Chandler, Charles Oliveira, and Conor McGregor.
