Sheamus has issued a farewell message to WWE, appearing to confirm his departure.

Last weekend, Fightful Select reported that the 48-year-old would be leaving the company at the expiration of his contract but wasn’t being released. He was subsequently moved to the WWE’s “alumni section” of its website.

On Friday, Sheamus posted, “slán mo WWE chaired” (Goodbye my WWE friends) while changing his X handle to SFarrellyPro.

The performer has been on the shelf recovering from shoulder surgery, last wrestling in November in a six-man tag involving John Cena.

His departure ends a two-decade relationship after signing in 2006 as a developmental talent and graduating to the main roster three years later. He became WWE & World Heavyweight Champion as well as a U.S. champion, had multiple reigns as a tag champion with Cesaro, and won the Royal Rumble, Money in the Bank & King of the Ring.
