It’s officially tournament season! Along with a lineup this weekend which sees WWE head to Madison Square Garden, AEW present a title triple-header and TJPW put on one of their biggest shows of the year, tournament action from NJPW’s G1 Climax as well as STARDOM’s 5Star Grand Prix will take place. Safe to say, you have a lot of options for what to watch over the next 72 hours. Here are eight options for what to catch on TV & streaming this weekend!
Friday
WWE Friday Night Smackdown / 8 p.m. ET / USA Network
Just 24 hours before WWE heads to MSG for Saturday Night’s Main Event, Friday Night Smackdown will go down from the MVP Arena in Albany, New York. It’ll be a show once again run by Adam Pearce, as a confrontation between GM Nick Aldis and former champ Gunther turned physical once again last week. Pearce teased that he has a lot to say about the recent issues between Aldis and Gunther on tonight’s show.
Nothing else has been announced for the show just yet, so I don’t have much to tell you, unforunately. WWE usually likes to reveal numerous Smackdown segments the day of the show, so keep an eye out for more announcements in the coming hours.
- Adam Pearce to address the situation between Gunther & Nick Aldis
TJPW Summer Sun Princess ’26 / 9:40 p.m. ET / Wrestle Universe
One of the biggest cards of the year from Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling, Summer Sun Princess, is set to begin this evening. Live from Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan, this year’s card includes all three of the brand’s top titles on the line.
The main event will see Yuki Arai attempt to beat another TJPW vet as part of her first-ever Princess of Princess title run, taking on Miyu Yamashita. Arai has faced Yamashita three times since 2021 and has yet to come out of an encounter with a win. She’ll have to create a new “first” in her career tonight if she hopes to keep the title reign alive. A win for Yamashita would kick off her fifth run with the belt, extending a record she already holds for most reigns.
This evening’s show will unfortunately be without AEW talent Willow Nightingale, who was announced for a singles match against Mizuki but pulled at the last minute due to travel issues. Taking her place will be DDT’s Chris Brookes, TJPW announced.

STARDOM 5Star Grand Prix 2026 Night 1 / 2 a.m. ET / STARDOM World
STARDOM’s biggest tournament of the year, the 5Star Grand Prix, will officially kick off tomorrow morning. If you’ve never watched the tournament before, think: G1 Climax, but even bigger. 32 entrants, four blocks. It’s madness, and Joshi viewers will strap in for the ride beginning this weekend.
This year’s tournament includes former tourney winners Maika, Momo Watanabe, Utami Hayashishita, defending World of STARDOM champ Suzu Suzuki, and AEW’s Julia Hart, just to name a few.
Along with some block action, Saturday’s first night of the tournament will feature numerous special matchups. It was revealed just a few days back that the Thekla-led Triangle of Madness faction will try to gain trios gold on this show, challenging Artist of STARDOM Champs Ami Sohrei, Hina, and Lady C. The show will also include Syuri putting her IWGP Women’s Championship up against Natsupoi, which could be great.

Back in Japan after a quick trip over to Chicago, NJPW’s G1 Climax tournament will pick back up this Saturday. While the main focus of tomorrow’s show will be the B Block, it’ll also include the first G1 match this year from AEW’s Gabe Kidd, facing former teammate Drilla Moloney. Kidd was off the Chicago show due to visa issues.
The main event of tomorrow’s show sees IWGP Heavyweight Champion Yota Tsuji look to collect his second-straight tournament win, taking on veteran star Hirooki Goto. Banger incoming? I think so.

A packed edition of AEW Collision is scheduled for tomorrow night on TNT. This weekend’s show, taped earlier this week in Boston, will feature three title matchups: Kevin Knight defends his TNT title against the always crafty AR Fox, Hikaru Shida puts TBS gold up against the hard-hitting Queen Aminata, and Bandido defends his ROH title against Adam Priest.
Along with those title matchups, we’ll see the first appearance from Jack Perry since his contract re-signing, Will Ospreay in action, Hechicero’s AEW in-ring return, and comments from Boston’s own Mercedes Moné.

WWE will head to the world-famous Madison Square Garden in New York City for the latest edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event this weekend. I’ll be honest: Despite being in a huge market, one where they usually try to over-deliver, WWE have put together a pretty weak card for tomorrow night. Sure, we have a huge main event that sees CM Punk and Cody Rhodes meet Gunther and Sami Zayn, a bout with heavy implications as we head close to Summerslam. And yes, I’m personally looking forward to how the new in-ring persona of Lyra Valkyria looks when she faces Bayley. But, other than that, this is a pretty missable show.

NJPW’s B Block will be the focus of Sunday’s G1 lineup from Sapporo, Japan. While the show is without Shota Umino, who withdrew from the tournament due to a concussion just days ago, it still features a stellar main event that sees Yuya Uemura and Zack Sabre Jr. square off. That could be an early highlight of the tournament for sure.

- El Sky Team will work the main event of tonight’s CMLL show in Arena Mexico, facing Averno, Euforia, and Mephisto. Ikuro Kwon, who has been on an excursion of sorts in Mexico as of late, will try to take the MLW World Middleweight Championship off Templario as part of an undercard bout. (Youtube)
- The AAA World Mixed Tag Team Champions, Lola Vice and Mr. Iguana, will figure out their next opponents on Saturday night’s episode of AAA, as a #1 contender’s bout will air. Faby Apache and La Hiedra have both held the mixed belts before. But, to regain the titles, they’ll have to work with new tag partners this weekend: Hiedra will enter the #1 contenders match alongside Laredo Kid, and Apache will work with Joaquin Wilde. (Youtube)
- GCW will present back-to-back nights of action this weekend, heading to Dallas on Saturday, then Oklahoma on Sunday. I’m excited to see the return of Brick Savage, who stood out to me as a fun name in GCW’s Clusterf*** earlier this year. I also think the showdown between the Cowboy Way tag team against Savage Gnomes (Bear Bronson and Gabby Forza) on the Dallas show could be an interesting one. (TrillerTV+)
