AEW Dynamite Results

  • TNT Championship: Kevin Knight over Darby Allin via UFO Splash in 11:20 (Recommended)

No Tension Detected

AEW Dynamite from Nashville kicked off with Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega cutting a promo where Ospreay revealed that he and Omega are undefeated every time they’ve ever teamed together. The two chided each other to make sure they tag out if they needed. Moxley entered and said, “There’s no tension in this room,” and left. 

TNT Championship

The first match of the night was Darby Allin challenging Kevin Knight for the TNT title. Before the match began, the announcers reminded the viewer of the violent match Darby had with Brian Cage last week. That was followed up by Renee Paquette noting that the last time AEW ran this building last November, Darby spent the night in the hospital at the hands of Kevin Knight. Darby hit the Champion with a dive to the outside before the bell rang and the two brawled into the crowd. Darby hit a crazy clothesline onto Knight into the timekeeper’s area, and the match finally began as the two finally climbed into the ring. 

Immediately, Knight pushed Darby off the ramp, and he landed crotch-first on the guardrail. Knight followed that up by catapulting Darby underneath up through the top level of the steel steps, busting Darby open over his eye. Back in the ring, Darby hit two consecutive Codes Red on Knight for a near fall. He followed that up with a Coffin Drop to the outside. After a commercial break, Darby set up for the Scorpion Death Drop, but Knight kicked Darby off of him and into referee Paul Turner, taking him out. Knight grabbed the TNT title but missed, and Darby hit the Scorpion Death Drop. Darby considered using the title but thought better of it, and Knight recovered to hit Darby with the title belt. Knight hit the coast-to-coast on Darby (which the announcers mentioned was how he took out Darby back in November) and followed that up with the UFO Splash for the win. 

Family Matters

International Champion Kyle Fletcher and Kazuchika Okada aka Protokada, were out next for their scheduled match with Brodido, with Kevin Knight still in the ring. After a commercial break, the entire Don Callis Family was in the ring with Renee Paquette. Mark Davis and Kevin Knight hyped their matches at Redemption, with Knight noting he just broke the record for most TNT title defenses, formerly held by Kyle Fletcher. He noted that he didn’t need the help of the DCF, and this upset Fletcher, who responded by saying he didn’t need the family’s help either. Fletcher said he would make sure that everyone was banned from ringside both this Sunday when he faces Bandido, and also requested that everyone be banned from ringside for the next match as well. Knight and Fletcher argued as the Family tried to separate them, and this led directly into the next match.

Brodido vs. Protokada

The two teams battled back and forth as the match began, with Protokada gaining the advantage as the show went to break. Upon return, Brody King got the hot tag and took it to both Okada and Fletcher. 

Kyle Fletcher blocked a 21 Plex attempt by Bandido, and Bandido recovered, nearly picking up the pinfall in two consecutive attempts. King ducked a Rainmaker attempt, and Okada accidentally hit Fletcher with the Rainmaker. This allowed Bandido to hit the 21 Plex for the win. After the match, Fletcher started screaming at Okada that it was his fault he lost, and Okada hightailed it to the back. 

Don Callis sent Fletcher, Archer, and Davis to attack Brodido, but Andrade ran down to even the odds and send the Family packing. 

 

A Chris Jericho “Painmaker” vignette aired. Mick Foley was out next, and it was revealed that he would moderate the face-to-face between Thekla and Willow Nightingale.

Face-to-Face

Next up, the challenger to the Women’s Championship went face-to-face with the Champion, Thekla. Thekla noted how she was now Thekla Two Belts as she and the Sisters of Sin won the Artists of Stardom Championships in Tokyo over the weekend. Thekla claimed that Willow was fake and that she was actually full of poison. Willow retorted that Thekla being toxic was all a facade, and that Thekla actually felt small. Willow called Thekla a “dumb bitch” for insulting Mick Foley, and she would put everything into beating her so she could go on to All In as Champion. Thekla attacked Willow with the microphone and gave Foley the finger. She went to hit Willow with her (actual pants holding) belt, and Willow hit her with the pounce, putting an end to the segment. 

A vignette aired highlighting the Redemption match where Hikaru Shida will be defending her TBS Championship against Maya World. 

Clark Connors vs. Jay White

The next match saw Bang Bang Gang’s Switchblade Jay White taking on The Dogs’ Clark Connors. White was briefly accompanied by the other members of the BBG, but they returned to the back. Connors was suspiciously alone as the match began. Connors took control going into a commercial as he laid out Jay White on the entrance ramp. Once back live, it was noted that this was White’s first singles match in nearly fifteen months. White fought from underneath as Connors lit a match and put it out on White’s body. 

Connors continued to attempt the Spear on White until finally Jay caught him with a guillotine choke and Connors quickly tapped out. David Finlay attacked White after the bell, and the Bang Bang Gang ran down to make the save, but Finlay was able to retrieve his sheleighlagh. 

A Cage and Copeland promo was quickly interrupted by an attacking Claudio Castagnoli and Pac. The two Death Riders left the champions lying and called them “long in the tooth”. 

Women’s Tag Team Championship

Next, the Sisters of Sin challenged Divine Dominion for the Women’s tag titles in a No DQ match. The new Artist of Stardom Champions jumped the AEW tag champions, choking them with kendo sticks before the bell rang. Early in the match, Julia Hart accidentally nailed Skye Blue with a screwdriver as Divine Dominion ducked the attack. Suspiciously, the announcers brought up the image of Skye being covered in blood in the Blood & Guts match a while back. On question, Skye appeared, bleeding from the forehead. 

After an ad break, the Sisters of Sin put Megan Bayne through a table at the top of the ramp and focused their attacks on Lena Kross, two on one. Kross survived, and Bayne recovered, and all four battled to exhaustion. All four women had the same thought as they each grabbed one of the four title belts, and Sisters of Sin each hit DDTs on their Stardom belts. Skye Blue attempted to set up for a top rope maneuver on Kross, but Bayne caught her and chokesallmed her off the top and through a table on the outside. Julia Hart caught Bayne in a submission, but Bayne reversed it into a Tombstone and Divine Dominion hit a double chokeslam for the pinfall victory. 

Bang Bang Gang cut a backstage promo, challenging The Dogs to a Double Chain tag team match. Jay White said they’d give Finlay the beating his Father should have. 

Omega/Ospreay/Mox vs. Don Callis Family

The main event of the night saw Kenny Omega teaming with (as it stands) All In opponent Will Ospreay and fellow Death Rider Jon Moxley to take on Brian Cage, Hechicero, and Jake Doyle. Early in the match, Omega hesitated when tagging Mox, allowing the DCF to take control. Cage hit a double suplex on Omega and Ospreay as the show went to commercial.

Upon return, Cage dominated Ospreay until finally making the hot tag to Omega, leaving Moxley hanging. Omega needed to tag next but couldn’t make it to Moxley, so Mox came in anyway, attacking the DCF. This led to Omega inadvertently hitting Moxley with the flying knee. 

Omega and Ospreay finished Hechicero off with a combo Hidden Blade V-Trigger after Moxley successfully knocked him off the top rope. After the match, Omega attempted to shake Mox’s hand, but they started shoving each other. Ospreay tried to get involved, but Omega and Ospreay started shoving each other as well. The Young Bucks appeared and started brawling with Mox and Ospreay. In the midst of this, Ospreay hit Omega with a back elbow as the melee ensued. Trent and Rocky ran down, and Omega went to hit them with a V-Trigger, but Kevin Knight came flying from out of nowhere, hitting Omega with the TNT title. Knight held up both the TNT and World Championship as Omega bled to end the show.
