CMLL World Heavyweight Champion Hechicero has won the 2026 International Grand Prix by submitting Claudio Castagnoli at Arena México.
Hechicero was the final survivor of Team Mexico in Friday’s 11-on-11 torneo cibernético, overcoming Castagnoli and PAC after the international side entered the closing stages with a two-on-one advantage.
The final four were Hechicero and Místico for Mexico against Castagnoli and PAC. The two international representatives combined to eliminate Místico, leaving Hechicero alone.
Hechicero first removed PAC before forcing Castagnoli to submit to win the tournament. The result gave Hechicero another victory over Castagnoli after defeating him for the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship at Homenaje a Dos Leyendas on March 20.
Hechicero had also eliminated Roderick Strong and Orange Cassidy earlier in the match.
Castagnoli accounted for Titán, Último Guerrero and Místico on his way to the final two, while PAC eliminated Máscara Dorada.
Another development involved ROH World Champion Bandido and Soberano Jr. The two tore at each other’s masks during an increasingly heated exchange and were both disqualified. Their fight continued after they had been removed from the tournament.
Team Mexico consisted of Hechicero, Místico, Ángel de Oro, Bárbaro Cavernario, Máscara Dorada, Soberano Jr., Templario, Titán, Último Guerrero, Volador Jr. and Xelhua.
The international team featured Austin Aries, Bandido, Blake Christian, Castagnoli, DOUKI, Leon Cage, Orange Cassidy, PAC, Roderick Strong, Rohan Raja and Yujiro Takahashi. The team represented promotions including AEW, NJPW, ROH, MLW, RevPro and Maple Leaf Pro.
The victory marked Hechicero’s first International Grand Prix win. Castagnoli won the tournament in 2024, while Místico succeeded him in 2025. CMLL traces the event back to 1994, when Rayo de Jalisco Jr. became its inaugural winner.
