Sosa vs. Myers

TNA Thursday Night Impact from Philly kicked off with Ricky Sosa taking on The System’s Brian Myers, accompanied by Bear Bronson. Early in the match, Bronson created a distraction, allowing Myers to take control as Sosa began fighting from underneath. Sosa assumed control of the match, and Bronson distracted again, allowing Myers to hit a DDT for a near fall. Next, Cedric Alexander appeared, and Sosa took him out. Bronson distracted again, and Myers went to use the X Division title on Sosa when Leon Slater appeared, grabbing the belt. This allowed Sosa to hit the Head Shot for the win.

After the match, Slater got on the mic and complained about Alexander turning down his challenge, calling Alexander a scared, jealous, little bitch. Slater challenged him again for Lockdown and said he would give whatever it takes. Alexander proposed that if he wins, Leon Slater’s title reign would be erased. That makes absolutely no sense, but okay. Slater agreed, and the match was made for Lockdown.

Rich Swann and BDE were interviewed backstage, and it was noted that they would have a mystery partner later in the night. They teased that their partner has been waiting for the right moment to get their revenge on Mustafa Ali.

An AJ Francis vignette aired with him in one of his “many studios around the country”. Elijah’s music played, and he appeared in the control booth. Elijah challenged Francis to a steel cage match at Lockdown. The lights went out, and it turned out AJ was imagining Elijah being there. But the match was announced anyway.

The Face of the Franchise Speech

Next, Moose came down in Frankie Kazarian’s scarf and sunglasses, stealing his talk show gimmick, calling it “The Face of the Franchise Speech”, which barely makes any sense. Moose said his guests tonight were every single member of the crowd. Moose claimed that he’s been offered contracts by every major wrestling promotion worldwide but has turned them all down to stay in TNA. This brought out Kazarian, who tried to get the crowd to chant “King” instead of “Moose”. Kazarian insulted Wawa, and the crowd booed vigorously before chanting “Wawa”.

This led to a brawl between the two, which security separated, and the announcers reminded us that they would square off in an “Escape the Cage” match at Lockdown.

Order 4 vs. BDE, Swann, & Miguel

Next, Mustafa Ali and Order 4 took on BDE, Rich Swann, and their mystery partner in Trey Miguel, who returned from a broken kneecap. The face team garnered control of the match early on, leaving Order 4 to regroup on the outside as the show went to commercial. Upon return, things built to a hot tag to Trey Miguel. Special Agent Zero took it to all three, but Miguel was able to fight him off and hit a sliding DDT on the outside. Miguel then hit the Lightning Spiral for the win. 

After the match, Zero attacked Miguel as Ali screamed at him. Jason Hotch ran down to make the save. Hotch will face Ali for the International Championship at Lockdown. 

Xia Brookside complained about her makeup backstage, and the camera moved around her head and into her hair. 

After a commercial break, Brookside freaked out, and Elayna Black appeared, and somehow she had done the makeup for her. The two started brawling, and Brookside ran off. 

Knockouts TV Title Tournament

The next match saw M by Elegance taking on Indi Hartwell in the Knockouts TV Title Tournament. M controlled the majority of the match, with Hartwell getting an occasional hope spot, only to be shut down. Finally, Indi began to mount a comeback, hitting M with a Spinebuster for a near fall. In the middle of the match, Xia Brookside and Elayna Black brawled into the ringside area and then out through the crowd. M was able to take advantage of the distraction and hit Hartwell with a Moonsault for the win. 

A Harley Hudson vignette aired, with her going over her history and how she got to TNA. It ended with Harley saying that she had to beat Alisha Edwards next week. 

After a commercial break, Moose was seen unconscious backstage with no one helping him. 

Edwards vs. Navarro

The next match was The System’s Eddie Edwards taking on KC Navarro. Navarro jumped Edwards at the bell and hit him with a flurry of offense, nearly picking up the win with a splash off the top rope. Alisha Edwards got involved, grabbing Navarro and allowing Eddie to throw KC into the ring post and take control. Alisha threw her shoe into the ring, and Eddie attempted to use the kendo stick but was stopped by Navarro. KC hit the Blessing in Disguise for the win. After the match, The System attacked Navarro and went to pillmanize him, but Ricky Sosa, Fabian Aichner, and Jada Stone made the save. Santino Marella appeared and made a Lethal Lockdown match between the two groups for Lockdown.

TNA World Championship

The main event of the night was the TNA World Championship match between Nic Nemeth and Jeff Hardy. Nemeth took control early on as Hardy attempted to fight from underneath. Jeff hit a jumping clothesline from the apron onto Nemeth on the outside as the show went to an ad break.

When the show returned, Nemeth was back in control as Jeff again fought from underneath. The announcers noted that Nemeth had never beaten Jeff Hardy before in his career. For some reason, during this match, the color correction on at least two of the cameras went awry, and they had a weird yellow hue. Meanwhile, back in the ring, Hardy surprised Nemeth with a sit-out powerbomb for a near fall. Hardy followed that up with a Twist of Fate, but Nemeth countered with a Superkick. Nemeth went for the Danger Zone, but Hardy hit a Cutter and a Swanton Bomb; Nemeth got his knees up just in time. Hardy went for another Twist of Fate but got caught with the Danger Zone for the win.
