After a successful G1 Climax, New Japan’s next major event will see multiple title matches, including the announcement of Yota Tsuji’s next IWGP heavyweight title defense.

Five matches have been announced for New Japan’s Destruction in Kobe show on September 27, highlighted by Yota Tsuji defending the IWGP championship against former holder Hirooki Goto.

It’s a rematch from the July 18 show in Hokkaido where Goto pinned Tsuji in the round-robin stage of the G1 after hitting back-to-back GTRs. Goto held the title last year for nearly five months after winning the championship for the first time in his career at the age of 45.

Former War Dogs teammates Gabe Kidd and Drilla Moloney will meet for the IWGP Global Heavyweight title in a match that was hyped up throughout the G1 with various interactions. Moloney pinned the champion in the round-robin stage on July 18 in Hokkaido.

Former Dragongate star Shun Skywalker is advertised for his first singles match in the new promotion when he challenges Konosuke Takeshita for the NJPW World Television Championship. Skywalker debuted this past Saturday and aligned with House of Torture.

Jeff Cobb made his return to New Japan after an ill-fated WWE campaign as JC Mateo. Instead of returning to the United Empire, Cobb came back as a member of the Unbound Company and will face Callum Newman in Kobe. There is a significant backstory as the pair were IWGP tag team champions when Cobb vacated the belts when signing with WWE. Cobb was also scheduled to challenge Hirooki Goto at Wrestling Dontaku in May 2025 but opted out of the match due to his WWE signing, which led to Newman taking his spot in the match.
