With less than a month until UFC 332, the promotion finally has a main event for its first of two numbered events in October.
During Saturday’s broadcast from Paris, it was announced that Valentina Shevchenko has vacated the UFC flyweight title, and it will be decided in a fight between Natália Silva (20-5-1) and Wang Cong (10-1).
Hopes of having Shevchenko headline this event were dashed due to an ongoing injury, leading to this backup plan to anchor the card from Salt Lake City, Utah.
Silva was the contender in waiting, having won all eight fights she has had in the UFC and has not suffered a loss in nearly nine years. In her past three fights, she has defeated past champions Jéssica Andrade, Alexa Grasso, and Rose Namajunas.
Cong came to the promotion through the Road to UFC series and has won her last four fights. Cong is coming off a unanimous decision win against Tracy Cortez at UFC 329 in July.
UFC 332 takes place on Saturday, October 3 at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. It streams on Paramount+ and airs as a pay-per-view in Canada.
