UFC fighter Raoni Barcelos was discharged from a hospital following a scary ending to his fight this past Saturday in Las Vegas.
Barcelos was taken down by opponent Raul Rosas Jr. on Saturday’s UFC Fight Night card at the Apex, and Rosas Jr. immediately recognized an issue and stopped attacking. Herb Dean stepped in to call off the fight as Barcelos lay on the canvas and was eventually removed on a stretcher.
Details of what happened are still unknown. His coach Davi Ramos stated, “He did not have a stroke, it wasn’t a heart attack, nothing like that, but we still don’t have an explanation for what happened”.
On Tuesday evening, Barcelos posted a photo with his family and announced he had been discharged and thanked everyone for their support.
The 39-year-old is 22-6, fighting since 2012, and joined the UFC eight years ago. Heading into Saturday’s fight, he was on a five-fight winning streak and was winning the fight until the end of the fight in the fifth round.
