Tony Schiavone shared an update on Steven Borden, stating that the rookie performer is recovering from his injury at All Out.
Saturday’s match with Borden & Darby Allin against Kevin Knight & Kyle Fletcher was called off after a spot where Borden and Knight leaped from opposite sides of the ring and collided in mid-air. Borden was motionless on the mat as trainers checked on him before the match was called off.
Schiavone shared an update on his What Happened When podcast after speaking to Borden the day before:
I talked to Steven just yesterday on the phone, and he was fine. He had no headaches. He had no dizziness. As far as a diagnosis is concerned, that has to come from our doctor. But by talking to him, he said, ‘I’m fine’. He did tell me, ‘In all the years I played football for the University of Kentucky, he said, ‘I never had a concussion. I never experienced anything like that’.
Schiavone added that Borden’s concern was whether his injury negatively affected the show, which Schiavone reassured him it did not.
He was more upset that he thought he felt he ruined the pay-per-view by what happened, and I said, ‘No. You didn’t because we announced it and then we announced it again to the crowd. So, everybody was very happy that you were okay, and so that really lifted everyone’s spirits.’
So, how long is he going to be out? I don’t know, I’m sure they’re going to check on him before he can get back in there. It was very scary.
The match was Borden’s first on pay-per-view after wrestling dark matches over the past year and debuting on television earlier this month.
