AEW Grand Slam France narrowly edged out a live edition of NXT in the 18-49 demographic on Tuesday night.

A rare head-to-head battle between the brands saw a loaded AEW event from the Adidas Arena in Paris, France (airing on a several-hour delay) go against a live edition of NXT.

Unlike previous efforts, NXT did not load up its lineup with anything out of the ordinary, including any main roster cameos beyond Ivy Nile and Kiana James appearing in the battle royal.

Wrestlenomics reported that AEW Grand Slam averaged 495,000 viewers and 0.11 (150,000 viewers) in the 18-49 demographic on TBS compared to NXT’s 532,000 viewers and 0.10 (136,000 viewers) in the core demographic on CW. Grand Slam France drew a 0.15 rating in the 25-54 demographic and NXT averaged a 0.14 in the same demo.

The viewership figure doesn’t include streaming data for AEW on HBO Max or NXT on ESPN Unlimited.

AEW and NXT aired head-to-head on Wednesday nights from October 2019 until April 2021, when NXT shifted to Tuesdays. Each October, TBS has MLB playoff commitments and has forced Dynamite to move to Tuesday once per year. In Wrestlenomics charting of the Tuesday head-to-head battles since 2022, it shows Dynamite beating NXT in the demo in 2022 (0.26 to 0.18) and NXT outperforming Dynamite in the demo from 2023 – 2025 (0.30 to 0.26, 0.24 to 0.10, and 0.12 to 0.07, respectively).

Grand Slam France was headlined by an AEW championship match between Will Ospreay and Kazuchika Okada. NXT countered with a 20-woman battle royal, with Wren Sinclair earning a NXT women’s title shot against Kelani Jordan.
