Nick Wayne & KUSHIDA picked up their first victory of the 2026 NJPW Super Junior Tag League on Sunday at Korakuen Hall.
The pair defeated Místico & Masatora Yasuda in A Block action after losing their opening match to DOUKI & Yoshinobu Kanemaru on Saturday.
Wayne began the match against Místico, with the two exchanging signs of respect before reaching a stalemate. KUSHIDA and Wayne later focused their offense on Yasuda, who is replacing the injured El Desperado in the tournament.
Místico helped turn the match back in his team’s favor, while Yasuda continued to withstand sustained offense from the Timesplitters V.2 pairing.
KUSHIDA eventually isolated Yasuda after Místico was taken out of the equation and scored the pin following a moonsault.
The result moves Wayne & KUSHIDA to two points after the first two rounds. They next face Master Wato & KUUKAI on Monday at Korakuen Hall.
The match gives Wayne another opportunity against Wato, who defeated him during this year’s Best of the Super Juniors tournament. NJPW’s Japanese preview highlighted that previous result heading into Monday’s meeting.
The Swirl suffer first defeat
AEW’s other representatives, Blake Christian & Lee Johnson, were unable to maintain their unbeaten start.
The Swirl lost Sunday’s B Block main event to 2025 tournament winners Robbie Eagles & Kosei Fujita.
Christian & Johnson controlled a significant portion of the match before Eagles & Fujita rallied, with the Ichiban Sweet Boys ultimately securing the victory with the Interceptor.
Eagles & Fujita therefore moved to four points and share the B Block lead with United Empire’s Francesco Akira & Jakob Austin Young.
Akira & Young defeated Titán & Daiki Nagai earlier on the card, with Akira pinning Nagai following the Fireball.
Ishimori & Robbie X lead A Block
Taiji Ishimori & Robbie X are the only unbeaten team remaining in the A Block after defeating DOUKI & Yoshinobu Kanemaru.
Ishimori used House of Torture’s tactics against them, delivering a low blow to Kanemaru while the referee was distracted before using a Gedo Clutch for the pin.
The pair lead the A Block with four points.
Elsewhere, Ryusuke Taguchi & Kazuma Sumi upset opening-night winners Master Wato & KUUKAI, while YOH & Hyo earned their first victory by defeating SHO & Dick Togo.
