In the main event of Saturday’s Combate Americas pay-per-view, former UFC light heavyweight champion took on Alberto Rodriguez a.k.a ‘Alberto El Patron’.

The fight did not get out of the first round with Ortiz used his striking to negate Rodriguez, eventually, get the former WWE talent to the ground and working his way to his back. From that position, Ortiz successfully locked in a rear-naked choke and submitted Rodriguez.

The fight ended at 3:10. As part of their agreement, Alberto handed over his version of the WWE championship to Ortiz after the fight.

The two fought at a catchweight of 210 pounds and was Rodriguez’s first MMA fight since 2010. Ortiz walked out to ‘Real American’ by Rick Derringer.

On the pay-per-view card, Dulce Garcia (who wrestled as Sexy Star) submitted Anali Lopez Hernandez in 2:47 of the first round with a guillotine.
