WWE NXT notes: William Regal’s ‘massive’ announcement, two title matches set

Coming out of NXT, William Regal has a big announcement to make and there will be an NXT and NXT Women's Title match on 3/10

Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzales unsuccessfully challenged for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles on NXT. Referee Aja Smith was the official for the match and when she was taken out, Adam Pearce made his way to the ring along with a back-up referee. That led to Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler retaining the Women’s Tag Titles. Footage was shown of Pearce explaining what happened to William Regal and following that footage being shown, Regal said he will make an announcement next week that will change the landscape of NXT.

There will be two championship matches on next week’s program. Finn Balor is going to defend the NXT Title against Adam Cole and along with that, Io Shirai is defending her NXT Women’s Championship against Toni Storm.

L.A. Knight, the former Eli Drake made his NXT TV debut inside the Capitol Wrestling Center. He was ringside for a match between Bronson Reed and Cameron Grimes. Knight helped Grimes pick up a win.

The 3/10 episode of NXT will also see a singles match between Kayden Carter and Xia Li. Kayden’s partner, Kacy Catanzaro is out of action with a partial tear in her LCL and in storyline, Xia Li caused the injury.
