The final episode of NXT before next week’s “revamp” saw the show fall to one of its lowest viewership totals of the year.
The taped edition of the show that aired September 7th averaged 601,000 viewers with 185,000 (0.14) in the 18-49 demographic, per Showbuzz Daily and Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics.
NXT dropped 16 percent in viewership and 18 percent in 18-49 from the week prior and finished 31st for the night on cable.
Excluding the two episodes that aired on Syfy this past summer, it was NXT’s second-lowest audience of 2021 behind the January 13th episode that averaged 558,000 viewers going against coverage of Donald Trump’s impeachment process.
This week’s show was NXT’s lowest 18-49 figure since the June 29th episode.
The female audience was down noticeably with a 43 percent drop with females 12-34 and a decline of 33 percent with females 18-49. The 50+ audience was down by 17.5 percent and is usually the audience that props up NXT’s numbers but over the past several weeks, Dynamite is consistently beating NXT in that demo on different nights.
The taped edition of the show featured MSK defending the NXT Tag Team Championship against Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch, and Io Shirai & Zoey Stark defending the Women’s Tag Team Championship against Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter.
Next week’s episode features the wedding of Indi Hartwell and Dexter Lumis along with the debut of the new look and logo for NXT as the brand receives a makeover. Those factors should contribute to a big increase especially coming off an exceptionally low level this week.
Over the three weeks where NXT presented taped episodes, they averaged 668,000 viewers and 202,000 (0.16) in the 18-49 demo.
