AEW Rampage notes: New matches for Revolution, Jay White vs. Trent Beretta, next challenger for Jade Cargill

The 2/18 episode of Rampage aired at 7 pm instead of its normal 10 pm slot. It emanated from Nashville, Tennessee, and was taped on 2/16 with Dynamite. It featured Chris Jericho, Excalibur, Taz, and Ricky Starks on commentary.

Here’s a quick look at the match results from the show:

  • Jay White over Trent Beretta
  • Serena Deeb over Angelica Risk
  • Powerhouse Hobbs and Dante Martin
  • Adam Cole over Dark Order’s 10

Early in the show, Excalibur confirmed that AEW Rampage would return to its normal time next week and that it would also air with its traditional delay on the west coast (this episode aired at 4 pm Pacific).

He also announced that Tony Khan made the Thunder Rosa versus Britt Baker and Adam Cole versus Adam Page matches official for AEW Revolution on 3/6.

Matt Hardy challenged Jade Cargill for the TBS Championship on behalf of Bunny for the 2/25 episode of Rampage, and Smart Mark Sterling accepted. The match was made official later in the show and announced by Excalibur.

The main event saw Bullet Club leader Switchblade Jay White taking on Trent Beretta. Mark Henry’s interview segment led into the match and Jay White entered first. The crowd response to Jay White’s entrance seemed surprisingly tepid. However, a “too sweet” chant broke out once the match got started.

After returning from a picture-in-picture commercial break, the crowd broke out into a Danhausen chant, which Excalibur acknowledged.

In the end, Jay White hit the Blade Runner and picked up the win in his AEW debut. After the match, White bumped into Orange Cassidy and mocked him, potentially setting up a match between the two for the future.

Serena Deeb had her Rookie Challenge and won against the debuting Angelica Risk.

Powerhouse Hobbs and Dante Martin wrestled for a spot in the Face of the Revolution ladder match. After a match with some incredible selling by Dante Martin, Hobbs ended up winning with a huge spinebuster.

The show kicked off with Adam Cole making his entrance, followed quickly by Dark Order’s 10. Perhaps most newsworthy from this match is that the crowd actually launched into a “10” chant in the beginning.

Adam Cole pulled off a clean win against 10 with The Boom, but not before taking some damage and making 10 look good. After the match, Red Dragon came out on the ramp to celebrate, but the Young Bucks were nowhere to be seen.
