Bauer speaks about the suit.

Back in January 2022, Major League Wrestling launched an antitrust lawsuit against WWE. Their suit alleges that WWE attempted to undermine competition and monopolize the pro wrestling market by interfering in MLW’s business prospects and contracts.

The latest on that front came in January of this year. PWInsider reported that WWE was seeking a protective order to halt discovery in the suit.

MLW CEO Court Bauer was interviewed by Deadline and told the outlet that ‘several’ things have come up which led to the suit that relates back to talent, tampering with contracts and disrupting MLW’s business. He added that WWE has an immense market share and are willing to do whatever they can to make sure that does not soften.

There are several things that have come up that have disrupted our business in terms of talent and tampering with contracts. Overall it’s just the suppression of the growth of our business that we looked at. So, this wasn’t just tampering with one deal, one piece of talent. It’s the totality. If you look at the 40-year history and the practices of WWE going back to the eighties … the problems start to emerge. They have an immense market share. They will do what they do to make sure that that’s not softened.

Vince McMahon wants to own all the boats. That’s how you build an empire.

Tonight on REELZ, MLW is launching their ‘Underground’ series which will air weekly on Tuesdays in the 10 PM EST slot.
