AEW Dynamite ranked first among cable originals this past Wednesday and rising from last week’s three-year-low in the 18-49 demographic.

The July 5 episode from Edmonton averaged 855,000 viewers and 380,000 (0.29) in the 18-49 demographic, according to Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics.

Dynamite saw a 6% increase in viewership and a 20% bump in the 18-49 audience for this past week’s episode and represented a two-week high for both figures.

In the key demo, female viewership grew by 28% and males increased by 17%, which were also their highest marks since June 21.

Adults 18-34 were identical from the week prior while adults 35-49 increased by 34% including a major escalation among women in that demo by 54% from the previous week. It was the largest female audience in the 35-49 demo since June 7.

Adults 50+ grew by 7%.

In Canada, Dynamite averaged 88,600 viewers and 52,700 in the 25-54 demographic, which were down 11% from the week prior.

Tony Khan tweeted out a chart of the top twenty-five cable programs on Wednesday (including reruns) with Dynamite listed first ahead of Sistas Series on BET, Real Housewives of Orange County on Bravo, Expedition Unknown on Discovery, and a rerun of Friends. With the demise of Showbuzz Daily, it has eliminated the immediate results of how a show performed in the rankings on cable. It is an important distinction as a 0.29 in the demo doesn’t jump out as one of AEW’s better performances but if it ranked first on cable it provides better context of how the other cable networks performed in comparison.

Wrestlenomics reports that the most-watched segment of the show was the opening quarter featuring Orange Cassidy & Darby Allin vs. Keith Lee & Swerve Strickland followed by the 8:45-9:00 p.m. ET period featuring the segment with Chris Jericho and Don Callis. In the 18-49 demo, the top performing quarter was at 9:15 p.m. ET with a series of backstage interviews and the start of Dr. Britt Baker vs. Ruby Soho. Unlike last week, the two-minute overrun was relatively flat with only 11,000 viewers added in the demo.
