Keiji Muto chats SANADA versus Naito.
Closing out NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18 on January 4th will be Tetsuya Naito challenging SANADA for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
As the show date inches closer, NJPW is sending their talents to various outlets to do media in addition to pushing out their own Wrestle Kingdom content. NJPW1972.com released a new chat with Keiji Muto a.k.a. The Great Muta.
When asked to choose who he thinks will walk away with the IWGP World Title at Wrestle Kingdom, Muto said he does not have enough inside information to pick, but shared that him and SANADA were at the same year-end party and the champion was ‘dead drunk’. Muto went on to add that he’s had some of his best matches while hungover, but maybe not at the Tokyo Dome.
Hmm, I don’t have enough of an inside track (to decide who’ll win between Tetsuya Naito & SANADA). I don’t know who’s in the better shape, who might be hurt. I will say this though, even if it gets me heat — SANADA was at a certain end of year party I was at the other day and he was dead drunk (laughs).
Nah, I was past that point (Muto responded when asked if he scaled back on drinking before a Tokyo Dome show). I’ll be honest, I’ve had some of my best matches hungover. Maybe not at The Dome though. I’m sure these guys are different.
This past February, Muto selected Tetsuya Naito to be his opponent in what would be one of his last matches. He said he chose Naito because of his charisma, drawing ability and their history. He then joked that maybe SANADA would not have been able to draw the house.
But there’s a reason why I picked him (Tetsuya Naito) as my last opponent. His charisma is second to none, he’s a big draw, and we had history… So I went with Naito. Maybe SANADA wouldn’t have drawn the house (laughs).
