Private Party feel they’ve been riding wave of 2019 AEW-Young Bucks match, want to be known for more than that

Quen and Kassidy speak candidly.

The second episode of AEW Dynamite on October 9th, 2019 featured The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) versus Private Party (Marq Quen & Isiah Kassidy) in the first round of the AEW World Tag Team Championship tournament.

Quen and Kassidy pulled off the victory but were bounced in the next round by The Lucha Brothers (Penta El Zero Miedo & Rey Fénix). Private Party reflected on their win over The Young Bucks as they were speaking about their careers on Isiah’s YouTube channel

Quen feels they’re still riding the wave of that win. Kassidy added that it’s bittersweet knowing that people only remember them for that match considering they’ve been with the company since 2019.

Quen: The first night on TV, I don’t know if you remember, I had text our group chat that we had with The Young Bucks and I had told them, ‘If I was to die today, just know I’m happy.’ So that match… That’s the only match we had (he laughed). Think about it. We’re still riding the high from that one match.

Kassidy: So, you know what? With you coming back this year, you’ve been out for a year, I feel like going forward, we’re gonna make some moments in AEW and it’s kind of a bittersweet feeling that people only remember us by that one match with The Young Bucks and we’ve been here since the beginning. So, that’s our challenge, for this year.

Quen: To be more than that one match?

Kassidy: To be more than that one match… We’re gonna make some moments, we’re gonna make some memories. But it’s all good because that was one of my favorite — that’s actually my favorite memory while being here in AEW. We did some cool things. We wrestled Sting. We wrestled The Hardys. We wrestled a lot of cool people that we looked up (to).

Elsewhere in the conversation, Kassidy said he hopes they get to wrestle Adam Copeland and Christian Cage. He mentioned that Private Party has shared the ring with The Dudleys (D-Von Dudley & Bully Ray) and The Hardys (Matt & Jeff Hardy). He feels it’d be like collecting all the Infinity Stones if they were to get a match against Copeland and Cage.

Kassidy: You know who’s on the top of my list (of teams to face in AEW)? I don’t know if they’re ever gonna get together again and I hope they can put their differences aside to come together for the greater good and if we do this match, we collect all the Infinity Stones, Edge and Christian. We faced The Hardys, we faced The Dudleys. How crazy would it be if we faced Edge and Christian?

Quen: I think Edge retired. I haven’t seen him since quite some time. I don’t know if he still wrestles.

Kassidy: I mean Adam Copeland.

Quen: Oh! Adam Copeland. Okay, yeah, yeah. Okay, yeah, I could see that. I could definitely see that happening.

Kassidy: If we could face Adam Copeland and Christian Cage here, if they ever get together again, who knows? It don’t look like it by what’s going on now. It definitely doesn’t look like it’s happening any time soon. But if they do, because you never know with wrestling, expect the unexpected.

Quen: And we’ll be ready for them promos.

Kassidy: We will be ready for them.

Private Party were back on television as a duo on the 1/3/24 episode of Dynamite. Quen had been sidelined after undergoing surgery for a torn pec
